From Adagio Teas

Lemon and tea seem made for each other. Adagio’s Lemon Soleil tea combines the lively taste of bright and brisk Ceylon black tea with the tangy flavor of lemons. Fresh and sweet like Meyer lemons, with a crisp mouthfeel and clean, refreshing finish. This fresh version of this classic pairing will be sure to warm you up on a cold day or brighten your summer day iced!

Many a recipe soars to zing! & pow! with a squeeze of lemon, the brightest sun in the citrus galaxy. Lemons are a natural, inexpensive, and efficient way to clean your house (just squeeze a whole lemon’s juice into a quart of water and start wiping down counters and shelves.) Pour leftover lemon juice ice cube trays and use them for iced teas; melt with butter over green beans, or freshly grilled fish. We love lemons best with tea, like Lemon Soleil iced or cold. Use leftover brewed tea with rice for a delicious Lemon Rice. Bon appetit!

Black Tea | High caffeine | Steep at 212° for 3 minutes.

I prefer this cold steeped. It is strongly lemon, to the point of being a hair pine-sol ish, but not so much that it is undrinkable. Overall, I’d say it is not remarkable in any way, positive or negative.

I feel like I am the only person on earth who LOVES THIS TEA!

The reviews all fall short on this one, but I simply love it.

I can see this being discontinued, because every product I’ve ever loved always does! I’m jinxed that way.

I remember once having a boxed set of tea as a teenager which was a black tea and lemon blend. I loved this set and devoured it – I was never able to find or duplicate it again. I couldn’t remember the company of blend- although, seriously, grocery stores don’t have that much variety so never solved that little mystery.

Anyway, I’m gungo-ho to try lemon blends because of that nice box experience. It can be so hit or so miss. There’s different lemon flavors, applications of it, and sometimes it works alone…sometimes it just doesn’t.

This one isn’t exactly bad, but it has an unpleasant bitterness I don’t understand. It’s not supposed to be a strong tea, a breakfast tea, or a brisk tea – lemon tea should be pleasant and bitter free. I did do a healthy teaspoon of brew, but this is my staple spoon and staple size with my staple cup – bitterness is rarely a problem due to user effort.

There’s a citrus bitterness/astringency but it’s not wholly lemon. I would guess, if trying blind, this was a blood orange black tea. There isn’t sunny, tartness, or freshness.

Not nauseating, but not something I drool over.

I’m still trying out a bunch of lemon teas, as I’d like to find one that suits my fancy perfectly. This tea is not that tea, and I prefer David’s Tea La La Lemon better, I think. I don’t have any more of that to compare this to side by side.

However, I drank this twice today, so I feel like I should review it. I recently had to replace my tea kettle, and I bought the Adagio Utilitea kettle as a replacement. It works great so far, although it is kind of hard to pick out specific temperatures as opposed to levels of temperatures, if that makes sense. Anyway, since I was already buying the kettle, I threw in some tea samples to go along with it, Lemon Soleil being one of them.

I had my first cup today, and I brewed the tea for three minutes at boiling. That was too hot of a temperature, I think, as the tea was very bitter. The lemon taste also tasted very artificial, almost like lemon cleaner. I brewed the tea again for three minutes at around 190 degrees, and it was profoundly better. It was a lighter tea base, and the lemon flavor tasted less oily and artificial.

Still, though, it didn’t make me LOVE this tea. I think I could learn to like it okay, and the fact that it’s a lemon tea, which I do love, and that the price point is so significantly cheaper than the David’s Tea blend may make me buy the Adagio tea again. I’m going to keep looking.

I liked this tea well enough. I steeped a little longer then I usually do, but I think it helped bring out the lemon flavor. With a tiny bit of sugar and a drop of milk, this tea was delicious. While I wouldn’t rate it as one my absolute favorites, it is perfect for me on a cold day inside.

Not bad, but I’m not in love. Opens with a clean black and only the subtlest hint of lemon flavor, evolves with an unexpected grassy note (presumably from the sunflower petals), and rounds off to a bright, tart lemon finish.

I could definitely do without the weird grassiness, and I wouldn’t mind a little more lemon kick during drinking. Might be a good candidate for iced tea.
