From Art of Tea

The taste of fresh sliced melon washes the palate and refreshes the spirit. A special blend of organic white tea with all the antioxidant power that white tea leaves have to offer and fresh cantaloupe essence and jasmine. Perfect as an iced tea or after a meal.

My order from Art of Tea arrived yesterday (which includes last week’s “Steepster Select” offer of the tasting set – haven’t used it yet, and I’m thinking I might save it and give it as a gift to someone, although haven’t decided on that either). I also ordered two teas at the same time, and this is one of them.

The dry leaf smells very strongly of melon (delicious), in fact, it’s like I just cut through a ripe cantaloupe! I must admit, though, to some disappointment that I cannot smell the jasmine. The brewed tea possesses a much softer fragrance, although hints of melon are still present.

The melon flavor is much softer than the aroma of the dry leaf lead me to believe. I mostly taste white tea, it is quite delicate in taste (as most white teas tend to be), fresh tasting, pleasant. I can taste the melon but, it is also quite delicate – which I suppose is probably good because I don’t know how I’d feel if the flavoring overwhelmed the white tea. The jasmine is also making its appearance on the palate. The two flavors – jasmine and melon – creates a very intriguing flavor combination, but I like it.

Art of Tea promotes this as a good tea for iced tea… although I am not completely convinced, as the flavor is quite delicate. I shall have to see whether the flavor develops or mutes as the cup cools.

Thank you to LiberTEAS for this one!

This is a lovely, juicy Cantaloupe taste with a hint of minty aftertaste (eventho I don’t think that is one of the ingredients)

This is really tasty! YUM!

I have such a hard time imagining melon in a hot tea.

oh good, I’m not the only one experiencing Phantom Mint Sensation with fruit flavored white tea this week! (mine was with 52teas’ Tropical Explosion)

LOL @ Janfan! Yeah…I think I have had a few in recent memory…

Thanks, JoeCool (Nichole) for sharing! This is a delicate, delicious tea. It didn’t smell like much in the bag, nor as it brewed, but it packs a tasty punch for your taste palate. I taste sweet melon and a hint of jasmine. This is a great find, but I honestly don’t know if I would go out of my way to purchase it. Overall, a delight but not a must for me.

I just received my prize from the SororiTEA Sisters Blog contest yesterday – Thanks LiberTEAS !!!!

I decided to try out one of my new teas to recover from a brutal exam. And this tea sounded nice a happy! It tastes delicious. It tastes like white tea with a hint of melon and a little bit like honey but that may just be part of the tea or the melon flavor. I throughly enjoyed this tea, and I am feeling much more peaceful now :)

This is a very odd flavor combo to me…but not in a bad way, it just caught me off guard! The tea is light and the jasmine is in the background on this tea, which I figured would be the star of this tea, but no the cantaloupe is! Very refreshing, good tea!

That sounds very refreshing. Would it work as an iced tea?

I actually had this tea at room temp.(got a bit busy and forgot about my cup, boo!), but yes, I think it would be best as an iced tea actually.

The Cantalope sounds something iced teaish :P

Thanks for this one in your sale, Ost! It’s in a cute little tin too. This leafy white tea is supposed to have cantaloupe and jasmine flavors. I think the jasmine might be missing, but the cantaloupe is definitely there and pairs very nicely with the white tea. Not the best cantaloupe tea I’ve had, but I’m always happy to find another one if it actually has cantaloupe flavoring at all.

This is another tea that I have been drinking for more than a year but somehow didn’t write up a review. That is a shame because it is one of my go-to teas. I love the nose: so clean and fruity. You can really smell the melon. The taste is full and rich. I generally add a bit of NutraSweet, but the tea is so sweet I’m not sure it really needs it. I generally drink black and pu-erh teas, but love this as a light change of pace.

This tea has two siblings that I also love: Butterscotch, and Coconut. They seem to use the same base and similar ingredients, but each has a different main flavor.
