From Athletic Tea Co.

This blend uses ceremonial grade Japanese matcha green tea to create a steady, calm and focused energy. We have added guarana, cayenne, ginger and vegan protein to create a natural pre-performance boost. A great alternative to coffee or sugar-based drinks.

When To Take
In the mornings, during the day and pre-performance, with or without food.

How To Take
To take hot, pour a dash of cold water over half a teaspoon of powder and stir into a paste. Then pour over boiling water and occasionally stir. To take iced, add half a teaspoon of powder to 200-500ml of cold water into a bottle and shake. Goes well with any milk, smoothies, yoghurts, pancakes or oats.

Ingredients
Ceremonial grade Japanese matcha green tea, guarana, cayenne, pea protein, rice protein, ginger, beetroot, green cardamom, natural flavouring.

TTB tea! The flavoring here is quite fruity and tasty. I would guess it’s something like green apple. After that initial flavor, I taste the matcha, which has a bit too much bitterness for me. After that, I taste a bit of heat from the cayenne and ginger. With a slightly tweaked recipe, I think I would like this a lot. This also has some protein powder in it, which might be adding to the bitterness. Really, the more I drank of this, the more I liked it.

Drank hot on my way in to the office yesterday; it rained pretty much all day and having something hot on my commute (both to and from the office) was a God send. I still find this weirdly sweet and melon-y in terms of taste, and I like it a lot but I can’t help but feel that the profile is very strange and weird for the ingredients in this blend. I did still get some spice in the finish though; the warmth of it in the back of my throat actually soothed it a lot what with the whole being sick thing and all…

I kept thinking that this tasted like a melon drop shot/cocktail though (but with some spice) – which is basically melon liqueur and orange juice.

Just so strange.

Wow, this is an awful lot of tea that you are drinking, Ms. Strange.

Ha; I think I average around seven cups of tea a day? I don’t write about all of them though (even it it may seem that way), as much of that is for work – I generally own write about my “personal” teas. I also have developed the routine/habit of batching most of my reviews and doing them in one go on a day or evening off, so this is my week’s worth of notes ;)
