Old sipdown #13. A swap sample passed on to me, originally from Jump62359. And another tea I failed to review entirely, and can’t remember at all.

Also, sorry for these notes being boring and useless, I’m mostly documenting this for myself and have nothing interesting to say.

Well I wouldn’t exactly call it decadent, but for me it is warm and familiar. I just sat with the cup under my chin as I was browsing the internet, taking in that beautiful jasmine green tea aroma. Yummy. Oddly usually 2 minutes is plenty to draw out a good flavor from the green tea, but this particular blend didn’t impart much at two minutes. I would try it again at 3-4 minutes.

The leaves are quite small AND tightly curled, so if you’re brewing in a teapot a fine strainer would probably be nice. I brewed in a Kati cup today though so that wasn’t much of a problem for me.

Green tea with Jasmine? What’s so decadent about that?

I guess my idea of decadence runs along other lines: chocolate, caramel, creamy texture, rich & amazing, sexy even…oh, & make it black!

For my personal taste buds, there is nothing decadent about green tea, although I do enjoy it. I also enjoy jasmine, sometimes more than others, but to me this is just another green tea with jasmine. End of story.

That’s to my dear Sil for sharing it, but I do enjoy trying new teas. Also thanks to MissB, who shared her sample with Sil (who shared it with me).

oh, & it’s a sipdown.

TheTeaFairy

Lol, I agree, love both jasmine and green but much prefer your description of what decadent should be ;-)

TeaLady441

That’s TOTALLY not decadent. I’d be pretty disappointed with that combo after reading that title.

Thank you, MissB, for the sample. :)

It’s just a jasmine green? I was expecting something super exciting, like the chili and mango tea.

And wow, is that ever jasmine. It’s not bad, but I really prefer the Jasmine Pearls my Gramma got for me. They tend to be… less. Yeah. Less is a good description. :)

Also, tea friends. You may have noticed I haven’t been around much. I’m SUPER busy and so in order to keep my reading minimal, I have (temporarily, I hope!) unfollowed a bunch of you. I’m sorry! (Wow, so Canadian.)

Canadian ftw. :)

OMGsrsly

LOL. Yeah, I can’t escape that part of my heritage. :)

CharlotteZero

This tea has such a good name…Too bad it doesn’t fit.

Angrboda

I think most of us have been in that situation before. Cutting down is preferable to giving up completely.

OMGsrsly

Yeah, I was on the verge of giving up completely, which would really suck! Even then, I’m drinking coffee again this morning instead of tea. Gotta get back on the tea-wagon. :)

Thank you MissB for sending some of this my way. It was fun to compare this to two other jasmine teas (http://steepster.com/rachel12610/posts/236019). This one in particular was very floral with a smooth base. Though ultimately, floral teas aren’t my thing and so this won’t be something I stock up on. However, I can certainly appreciate any tea named for the wonderful Castiel.

I’M GUNNA SCREAM. AS I WAS WALKING OVER TO THE COUNTER TO SCOOP THE TEA INTO MY CUP, I DROPPED IT AND LIKE A THIRD OF THE PACKAGE IS GONE NO NO NO NO NO THIS IS NOT OKAY.

I definitely ended up with a smaller cup than I wanted :(
This tea, it’s Jasmine and I love it, but because I had DAVIDs Butterfly Jasmine not too long ago and I still remember how great that tea was, this tea can’t compare. This tea is an average Jasmine tea, much like other Jasmine teas I’ve had. It’s not scream about it good, but a good tea to have on hand :)
I probably won’t be super upset if I run out of this tea (I have enough for a small cup left, thanks to earlier events). I’ll probably just run off and trying other teas from other companies.

Right now, this one, Harney’s, Lupicia’s and Teavana’s jasmine teas are on the same level, while DAVIDs Butterfly Jasmine remains at the top.

Cheri

I enjoy a nice jasmine tea. I’m sorry you dropped it. That bites.

jump62359

Dude. You have to try the Butterfly Jasmine! That was the best I’ve found so far :)
I’ll be grabbing a bit of the other Jasmine that DT carries in a couple weeks, but oh dang was the Butterfly Jasmine so great :))

Cheri

I’ll add it to my wishlist. Thanks for the suggestion.

Got this sample from MissB. When I smelled the tea dry I picked up some floral notes but I didn’t know it was jasmine (until I logged in here and saw it was jasmine). Brewed up it’s quite a strong green tea with a slight bitterness to it. I do pick up a faint jasmine flavour in the tea but it seems a bit off. Definitely floral but jasmine? I am having trouble putting it in words. Until I saw it was a jasmine green tea, I wouldn’t have taken it for one. As I drink down my cup the bitterness becomes stronger. When I have this again, I will try brewing a smaller amount with less steep time to see if there is a difference.

I’ve yet to try this one… for whatever reason it feels like less than jasmine to me as well, and likely why I didn’t go for it yet. I hope your second try is more positive!

MissB

… or at least more enjoyable. :)

Ubacat

Maybe I’ll give it a try soon. Sometimes it’s the brewing time and temperature that can make a big difference.
