My first Butiki tea and I’m a fan. Wow, really nice mouth-feel, especially for a rooibos. I am trying to drink more decaf bevvies after 5 pm, and I can’t get over how gross straight up rooibos is.. but this one is great. Really nice coconut flavor.. not artificial tasting at all. So, so creamy.. I can’t get over the creaminess. Not “scratchy” at all, like most of the rooibos I’ve tried (perhaps I’ve only had really crappy rooibos…)

Slightly greasy feel once it’s cooled a bit. I definitely prefer it hot. A very nice introduction to Butiki.

Oh my goodness, the SMELL. It’s so delightfully creamy and sweet. I could tell I was in for a treat as soon as I opened the package I got in the mail! (Thanks to Stacy for the generous samples!) I had to brew this one up right away. How could I not? After pouring hot water the juicy, robust aroma of the rooibos caught my noise. The coconut notes receded a bit, but are still obviously there. It smells like a tropical paradise. I’m getting impatient waiting for my tea to cool. :)
After sipping…ah. This is nice. Tart, vibrant fruity flavors play across my tongue first, then step back to let the coconut really shine. Creamy coconut goodness. :) And a little buttery-ness in the aftertaste, to. The rooibos seems to become less pronounced as the tea cools. I’m having a hard time putting my mug down! I’m also curious to see how this holds up to adding a touch of soy milk…hmmm.

This one smells just like the name suggests. I found the flavor to be less pronounced than it smells. The flavor was more at the end, and as an after taste. I found this a little strange, and I’m not sure I liked it. As the tea cooled, the flavor did come more forward, but I’m not sure about this one, will have to try it again.

I’ve been on the search for a few good coconut teas. I think I’ve found one.

I’ve got a bit of a sore throat, so I was worried the rooibos base would be too harsh and woody, but it’s quite smooth. I get a hint of coconut, but it’s very delicate. I might prefer the coconut a bit stronger, but it’s still really good. I can see drinking this anytime of the day.

This has definitely grown on me, and I don’t actually think the flavour has faded over time! That’s especially impressive because it’s a coconut tea, and they don’t tend to age very well. I made my mam drink a small cup again, and I think she secretly liked it. She guessed coconut as soon as she tried her first sip, and said it would have been delicious if it wasn’t in tea, so I’ll take that as a win, haha! The coconut is so fresh, creamy and authentic it blows me away every time. The rooibos base isn’t too woodsy, and it really does add to the overall ‘pie’ effect of the tea nicely. I think I might have to up my rating on this from the 81 I had given it last time!

I saw somebody else’s note mentioned adding condensed milk to this one, and now that’s all I can think about. I might have to try that in the next couple of days, watch this space…

A little milk sounds perfect.

Mmm, this is lovely! It tastes EXACTLY like the name. With absolutely no additives, I’m tasting the coconut, the cream, and even (I think) a hint of graham cracker crust! My first sip had a hint of medicinal rooibos flavor in the aftertaste, but that disappeared as my cup cooled down. I’m wishing I’d purchased more of this before Butiki closed up shop…I don’t have very many good caffeine-free teas and this one is the perfect bedtime treat!

A sample from Ysaurella, and a great idea for a rooibos team.

The dry tea smells just heavenly, like coconut yes and cookies and maybe a bit of vanilla. The rooibos itself was a bit smaller than I expected, but it turned out to be a very smooth rooibos base. Good for those who do not love plain rooibos. And full of beautiful whole coconut shavings.

The brewed tea, makes for a very pleasant cup. I don´t know how long ago the tea was blended is, but coconut oxidizes and I think I got a hint of that in the background here – not going to rate this because of it. In all a very good idea for a blended tea, a beautiful balance of flavours.

one rooibos I’ve been able to like …a little :)

Backlog from a couple of evenings ago. I still struggle sometimes with what to drink in the evenings. I try to avoid caffeine much of the time, although as busy and tired as I’ve been I don’t think it would bother me much.

I went for this one because I do love my coconut and I’m hoarding my last little bit of coconut macaroon from S &Vail.

This one smells very much like sweet coconut when dry. Steeped, the coconut flavor is there, a bit of cream, but I also get some woodsy rooibos. Not terribly much, but enough that it was taking away from my coconut. I don’t remember the first cup tasting that way, so may have been my mood or I did something different with steeping it. Maybe not my favorite coconut tea, but good for the evening time.

Thanks again EvaGrimm for sharing a bit of this with me.

Ahhh, Butiki. I got this as a sample with my gaiwan purchase, and the dry smell is lovely.

The liquor holds up pretty closely to the dried leaf, but I think I could have steeped it longer to get more of the flavour out. I tried adding some sweetener to it just in case.

This is really coconutty, which I love. I think I can detect some of those pie crust notes that others have mentioned, but I’m not sure. I find that I other reviewers on here are able to detect a lot more flavours and layers in Butiki’s blends than I am.

Only 1 cup or so of this left. Approaching sipdown status.
