From Butiki Teas

Our Butterscotch Pudding utilizes our our Kenyan Silver Needles. The base tea compliments and melds seamlessly with the butterscotch, hazelnut, and mocha flavors. Butterscotch is the star of this tea but the mocha and hazelnut flavors peek through and add complexity. We highly recommend adding a touch of brown crystal sugar for a rich and delicious candy-like flavor.

Ingredients: Kenyan Silver Needles (White Tea), Organic Calendula, Organic Cornflowers, Organic Natural Flavors (vegan)

Recommended Brew Time: 3 minutes 30 seconds
Recommended Amount: 1 tablespoon of tea for 8oz of water
Recommended Temperature: 180 F

Sipdown
I finished this off as a cold brew and it was delicious! Sweet with slight nutty and mocha notes.

VariaTEA

I miss this tea. It was so lovely.

Super Starling!

I’m so depressed that Butiki Teas doesn’t exist any more. Every time I read a review, I get excited about trying them, then remember the horrible truth.

tigress_al

Ya, Butiki was so good!! There is other good tea out there in the tea world though!!

Delicious. I can taste the butterscotch much more prominently in this tea than the other, and therefore, I like it much more! I am noticing, however, a bit of a play-doughy flavour – I’m starting to wonder if that’s either an artifact of butterscotch flavouring, or perhaps bai mu dan, because this isn’t the first time that I’ve tasted that flavour with a similar combination. It was a pretty mild association though, and the sweetness of the butterscotch was strong enough to completely overwhelm it after the first sip or so. Certainly happy with this base.

OMG, I need to wait for my tea to cool before I eagerly start chugging it! I’m getting a pretty nice light butterscotch flavor in this. Very well balanced and good without sugar BUT, I’m going to try a little sugar anyways to see what it does! Tastes kinda the same with a sweetness on the end. I think I prefer this without sugar. I’m really enjoying this, but I don’t think it is a stock up and hoard choice for me since there are other butterscotch teas out there that I also enjoy. (the bar for stock up and hoard is pretty freakin high at this point btw) :)

what other butterscotch teas would you recommend?

Dustin

Tealux and Art of Tea both have ones that may be the same tea. I think there is another brand that has it as well. It has got to be a tea that multiple companies are buying from a bigger distributor, unlike Butiki who flavors teas themselves and comes up with custom blends.

Kittenna

I know which tea you’re talking about, Dustin, and I’ve had it from at least two vendors (Tealux and someone else). It’s pretty yum.

Dustin

It’s kinda cool when you can find a tea that you like sold by multiple companies, but it is also kind of a bummer that they are buying from the same source and acting like it’s their creation. I guess I have mixed feelings on it!

Kittenna

I mostly find it irritating, although it’s sometimes helpful when you realize something is available locally and not just via expensive international shipping! It really ticks me off when things are marketed as their own blends, though. I don’t like lies.

Dustin

Yeah, the lying part gets me too. I find that as I get older I have less and less tolerance for BS.

I decided to christen my Soda Pop mug (which has been in a box for months now) and what better way to do so than with a variation on one of my most beloved teas, Butterscotch & Hazelnut Mocha Candies. This version uses a much lighter base making for a different but still tasty brew. I think the butterscotch is a touch more obvious but that is because there isn’t much else to compete with it, not that I mind. Ultimately, I definitely prefer the added richness of the White Rhino base in the original blend but this is a great alternative.

Fjellrev

I hear you on keeping mugs for a long time before using them. I still have my ice berries Nordic mug from last year in its box.

VariaTEA

Mine was in the box because we already have too many mugs in our house and my mom is never impressed when I buy a new one. However, today, almost all the mugs were in the dishwasher so I felt justified in bringing this one out :P

Fjellrev

Haha well hey, that’s a good reason to use it then. My problem is I hand wash my dishes every day so I’ve just been using the same two mugs, leaving this other one in the box. So with your system, you have more reason to buy more. ;)

Kittenna

I handwash all my mugs too… but usually end up with about 12 in use at a time, haha.

Dustin

Oooooh, that is the mug that glows in the dark, right?! Glow in the dark is my favorite color and I was temped to buy that mug, except it isn’t really my style in the light. :)

Oh yummy butterscotch! The Silver Needles base makes a lighter but still delightful brew and the butterscotch to me tastes more present. I imagine this is what a Butterbeer tastes like

Flavors: Butterscotch

Preparation
180 °F / 82 °C 3 min, 30 sec 1 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML
Kittenna

Thrilled to read that the butterscotch is more present in this one! I found it a little more lost than I liked on the White Rhino base.

Krystal

I like both they’re so good!

Kittenna

So much anticipation!
