2004 Shi Kun Mu’s Yibang Gushu Raw 400g
This cake is one of the four cake set (Yiwu, Manzhuan, Menghai and Yibang) produced by master Shi Kun Mu. Taiwanese tea master Shi Kun Mu is a famous producer of the highest quality ancient arbor puerh teas. He selects the materials personally and monitors the production process from beginning to end. This cake is made of pure spring acient arbor tea from Yibang mountain. Yibang mountain is one of the Old Six Famous Tea Mountains with long tea history. According to research, puer tea from Yibang was chosen to be tribute for the royal of Qing dynasty firstly. Then, Mansa(曼撒). Until the end of the Qing Dynasty, Yiwu was included in the “tribute tea” list. Yibang small leaves variety tea has slender leaves and silver buds. It is known for its refreshing sweetness and honeyed flavor.

Picked one bud/one leaf and one bud/two leaves. Traditional processing of “mao cha”, stone pressed in Changtai Tea Factory (Changtai Tea Group) in Yiwu town. These rare cakes were stored in a Kunming tea collector’s warehouse.

The tea soup has a deep golden color and sweet aromas of honey, awakening the sense of smell and surprising the sense of taste. Well-balanced tea soup full of aromas and flavours of honey and cream. Mellow and smooth, honey sweet with fruity tones. Rare and excellent Yibang tea!

Pretty fruity aroma but the taste is more like earthy-sweet-fruity with some astringency. Marginally more interesting than the 2004 Xinfu Yiwu I had yesterday, which is the same price range; a bit thicker and overall darker notes. Leaf quality is decent, but with a fair bit of chop. It would probably remain drinkable for several more infusions (but it’s going in the bin now because I’m bored with it).

Same conclusion; it’s decent, but also not something I would buy at this price.

This is a nice somewhat aged pu erh. The first few steps were kind of mushroomy, but later steeps were a bit fruity. It had a nice Amber color. The tea held up to many infusions, so I’d say the leaf quality was high. Not much astringency, for better or worse. It’s kind of expensive, $142 for 400g, I only bought a sample.

I have never ordered from Chawangshop before. Would you recommend them? It says you can only order a maximum of 10 samples. I also can’t see the EMS shipping option..

Rich

They are a reputable seller. Many of us order from them. The shipping is kind of expensive, though their teas are often quite cheap.

mrmopar

@tea123 they are reputable. Honza the shop owner works the EMS to your advantage. It is usually cheaper than the quote you get.

tea123

Thanks. It’s giving me two options for shipping: AIR and SAL. Where is EMS?

mrmopar

@tea123 that is the AIR option. I think it took one day from China and $ days at the USPS.

tea123

Thanks. I have now made my first order to Chawangshop. I ordered with SAL option. I later received an email asking for payment. The email had EMS shipping, which is slightly cheaper at $22 than the SAL option of $27.30.

Rich

Excellent! They have a funny way of ordering and payment, but it works. He is a great seller. What were the highlights of your order?

tea123

I ordered a selection of stuff. Some say gushu, and dating from 1990s to 2015. It looks like quite a selection. Some do not have a steepster reviews so I have picked them blindly. Anyway, I’ll decide whether they are any good :)
