Compagnie & Co Advent Calendar 2023 – Day 11

Boring! XD

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a perfectly pleasant Darjeeling (second flush, seems like). But I just can’t get excited about an unflavored tea in an advent calendar from a company that mostly specializes in flavored teas. Personally, I tend to buy my unflavored teas from different companies than my flavored ones.

Anyway, it’s smooth and somewhat bready with a noticeable hay note to it. A bit of underlying grapeyness as well. Slightly astringent on the backend, but nothing major.

It was my morning tea in the train to reach Aix en Provence. The SNCF, the national French train company uses now Compagnie Coloniale as unique brand for the tea served in all their restaurant coaches.
I am quite happy to see Lipton disappearing from main lines trains. Unfortunately the employees are not aware the water should be boiling (or at least near). I would say they served me a water at 60 or 65°C…hard time for a Darjeeling.

It was so clear liquor I was really worried but the taste was light and very pleasant. I detected a fruity note .

I need to buy some to get a correct preparation (home made…) but I really think this tea should be one of the type of Darjeeling I really appreciate (even if it mainly comes from a first flush and is from green type)

No more Lipton – a miracle in itself.

Nice!

You gotta love any reviews that start with a sentence like «It was my morning tea in the train to reach Aix en Provence».
Lol, I am in awe just by the fact that you can get Darjeeling in the train on your way to work! The only thing you’ll find around here is bad coffee, lol!

yes they made big efforts to upgrade the food & beverage offer in main lines trains I even can have an EG or a 3 other tea type :)
