From Cured Leaves Tea

Cozy is a flavor…and that flavor is West Cape red rooibos blended with traditional warming chai spices! This sultry blend has it all — organic cinnamon, ginger root, cardamon, ramon nut, star anise, licorice root, fennel seed, peppermint, cloves, and black pepper —while the rooibos adds a subtle hint of sweetness. No caffeine makes this comforting chai a true “all day, any time of the day” love affair. As an added bonus, it’s a great base for lattes.

No reviews for this yet? That is very surprising knowing that they were the winner of the 2022 Devan Shah Tea Tycoon Unique Customer Relations. Well, let me be the first to introduce you Steepster friends! This black, women-owned company is focused on African blends. The first thing that caught my eye was the packaging. The tribal patterns are fantastic and inviting. But what about the tea? I ordered two samples, the Currant blend and this one to review. This is a great non-tea chai. Perfect amount of spice for the palate but with the calming creaminess of rooibos. Perfect on its own but also wonderful with milk. If you prefer it with an even spicier kick, like I do, steep it longer. It will knock your socks off without making you stay up for hours.

Skysamurai: thanks for the info on a new to me comoany!

Note to gmathis: I think Precious Ramotswe WOULD like this one!

AJRimmer

I haven’t heard of this company, but your review has definitely made me interested to make an order sometime!

gmathis

Hmm…she’d at least drink a cup to support her fellow entrepreneurs! Have you read any more of ’em?

ashmanra

Started no. 5 today!

Skysamurai

what is no 5? and is Precious Ramotswe a steepster?

ashmanra

Precious Ramotswe is the main character in a book series, which begins with The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency. By the first page of the book she is enjoying a strong cup of bush tea and it remains a passion throughout.

A tea company recently released an Earl Grey Rooibos named for this character, and gmathis had commented to me that Precious Ramotswe would never have tolerated bergamot in her bush tea! So I had to read the books to see what she was talking about. The books are delightful. So delightful in fact that I am burning through them very quickly. And I agree. Precious Ramotswe would have been astonished and highly disapproving of the tea named for her.

If it mentions tea. I must read it. I have it waiting in my list! Here are some others I suggest!
Infused: adventures in tea
The girl from Berlin- only one line that mentions tea but it gave me shivers
The teahouse fire
Memoirs of a geisha
3 cups of tea – this one is something controversial because of things that happened after the book but it’s the tea culture in the book that is important

gmathis

Five? Good grief! You’re going to lap me…I forget where I left off. Has Mme Makutsi bought the shoes yet?

Skysamurai, it’s been years ago, but I’ve read two on your list: Memoirs of a Geisha and Three Cups of Tea. Liked ’em both.

ashmanra

Thank you for the reading list! Always on the look out for new books to enjoy!

Yes, Mma Makutsi bought the green shoes with the blue lining! Book Four!
