From Custom-Adagio Teas, Cara McGee

A simple, calming blend, just this side of sweet, but still a little rough and smokey.

teas: ceylon sonata, gunpowder
accented with lemon balm and rose petals
steep at 200° for 3 mins

IT HURTS.

It’s just 12:30 and I’m drinking tea already!?
Wow. This is different. Very rarely do I drink tea in the morning. And yes, this is considered morning. I legit woke up like an hour or two ago ahahha
But yes. Tea while the sun is still very much alive is very different since I usually drink tea during dinner and then… I kinda just keep going till 2am. What is this. What is my life.

But this tea is good! Smells nice and bright from the Lemon verbena and rose hips. Yes, I see on Adagio that Cara used rose petals but I DON’T SEE A SINGLE ROSE PETAL. I ONLY SEE ROSE HIPS so they are rose hips now.

I’m being a lazy bum and just using my tea filters. I don’t like using them because I don’t think they let my leaves bloom as much compared to making it in a teapot but… teapots require washing and pouring and cleaning and I am just so lazy right now. Just throw the tea into the filters and pour hot water over it BAM TEA WITH EASY CLEAN UP.

“Well then. Short version. Not dead.”

thanks to jump62359 for this sample! it’s such an earthy mellow brew.
smoky and smooth i suppose the gunpowder kinda takes over a bit in the personality category. that, paired with the afternoon mediumness of the ceylon, it’s a very mellow and fairly flat cup.

which is appropriate for this theme!

so sad and angry and frustrated and relieved i abandon all reason and collapse dramatically on the warm loose flat earth. hands at my sides and flat on my belly. it’s over.

not dead.

I don’t smell the roses, but I recognize the gunpowder. And currants? Anyway, it’s amusing to drink a Sherlock tea, and I’m already 404% done with today so.

Cavocorax

That sounds like an interesting combo! Hope it helped distract from everything monday-related.

Thanks! It’s always nice to drink a fandom tea, but I think in this case the flavors I normally like kind of cancelled each other out. Also, I tend to like the Watson teas more. But I’m already planning my second cup of something…

Another tea from jump62359 that i had earlier in the afternoon. this one wasn’t bad, though i STILL don’t like that whole black/green blend thing. it always confuses me…how do i brew it? what’s going on! AAAAAAH! Either way, this wasn’t bad but nothing i need to drink again.. It’s fun to consider the fandom blends though in terms of the story lines and how this tea might be someone’s idea of what that concept was like…. :)

jump62359

With black/green blends or black/white blends, I usually brew it to the temperature of the lighter tea, but brew it longer than usual to make up for the black tea… if that makes any sense? It’s a lot of experimentation with the times and just making sure that it doesn’t get bitter :)

Sil

yeah.. i do that too but it still hurts my head every time!

OMGsrsly

Need more tea. Read that first line as “Still Not Dead”.

Sil

well it’s technically true.. lol

OMGsrsly

I would hope so, considering you’re still posting here. :)

Cavocorax

I just do what Adagio tells me. Sometimes that makes a huge difference! (there I go trusting in the fandom creators again)

I hardly ever follow recipes, except maybe for baking anything that needs to rise. Once I make something once I tend to wing it unless I really loved the recipe and found it unusual. I kind of do the same with tea.

Cavocorax

And that’s why I’m not good at baking/cocoking. I don’t have any creativity or confidence in going off on my own until I’ve followed the proper instructions at least once. :P
