Let it snow

This tea will make you hope winter never ends. Think that’s impossible? Try it. It’s a cornucopia of dried fruits and berries that’s warmed up and spiced out with ginger, cardamom, cloves and tingly red peppercorns. Still not convinced? Steep this chai on the stove in a pot of hot red wine with a bit of sugar and/or a splash of vodka. Voilà. Winter’s looking pretty good, right?

What the HECK am I drinking!?

It’s not even tea. But it’s mildly tasty.

fruit, berries, peppercorns – yes.
Ginger, thankfully, it isn’t ‘in yo face’
Same with the cardamom.

This is surprisingly ‘ok’ but it confuses me…I didn’t think I would like it. Hum…
Onto my black tea…I need my black tea to start my day! This choose was completely random first thing in the morning! LOL

As I read "Ginger, thankfully, it isn’t ‘in yo face’ " I thought of the saturday night live skit ‘Scared Straight’ with Kenan! If you haven’t seen what I mean, go check it out… it’s funny :)

In the pouch, this smelled great (fruitcake in a cup) and I succumbed to temptation and picked out some dried fruit bits to chew on in great anticipation while I prepped this. I mean, fruit and peppercorns? Cool!

Steeped…maybe not so much, maybe I should’ve let it go a little longer. Spice hints with no fruit. I don’t sweeten often, but tossed in a sugar cube and that helped a bit. I may have been better off eating it raw :)

Still, I believe I owe thanks to Doulton for the opportunity to try this one…I’m pulling out some winter-ier samples that I tucked away for lower temps.

This sounds like the perfect thing to add to a vat of grog!

I’m not very groggy, but I can see this at Jack Sparrow’s feast table. Might be a nice add-in to hot cider.

I got this tea from the Travelling Teabox when it was staying with me. There’s only a few spoonfuls left in the bag and I think whoever tried it before me took most of the fruit bits. :D

It tastes a little weak so I’ll probably steep the remainder for slightly longer. It reminds me somewhat of a chai without the black tea – a chai-less chai. ;) What I noticed most is the flavour of the ginger and the cloves, though neither is horribly strong, thankfully. The tea is sweet and slightly fruity, particularly as it cools, but I can’t really pick out any really distinct fruit flavours. Maaaybe a bit of apple.

Yummm! While today was a sunny and happy spring day, I surprisingly decided to go with a comforting winter tea. I have just a little of it left, and I think it isn’t being sold anymore, so I’m trying to spare it, but every cup reminds me why I had gathered a provision of it! The chai taste is totally there (by that, I mean the Indian spices; cardamom, ginger, etc. For some reason, DAVIDsTEA has a bunch of “chai” teas that have none of these spices, which I always found curious), but add to that a sweet fruity taste (there are some huge blueberries in there!). For even more depth, the peppercorn can be most tasted in the aftertaste, when a little spicy hint comes at your tongue, not too strongly. I am a fan of chai in general, and this one is no exception. While it doesn’t have any actual tea in it, it actually opens the possibility of adding your own and creating some awesome chai blends. But it’s great just like that too. No milk, no sugar!

This sounds awesome! I had never heard about it.

Yeah! I’m pretty sure it was from last year’s winter collection… I guess it’s about time I finish it, but I like it so much, I don’t want it to end!
