From DAVIDsTEA

You can have it all

On the surface, this seems like a delicious organic chocolate tea with a nice hint of cinnamon. But take a closer look and you’ll find that it’s actually an arsenal of flavonoids and other immunity-enhancing compounds. That’s because it contains both green rooibos and green tea, two impressive sources of antioxidants. So while you indulge, it’s secretly fighting free radicals and other bad guys.

Great for the mouth, okay for the nose.

This tea is like Read My Lips without the minty smash.
I was hoping more. A more full satisfying body.

Deception, but I like this tea anyway :)

I went into this not knowing really what it was as I just found the sample in the back of the tea cupboard. I was expecting something a bit more…well..super chocolate-filled. There is definitely a flavour of cinnamon which was nice but not something I would drink again in the morning. If I take out my chocolate expectations I would say it was a decent drink but definitely something I would prefer in the afternoon instead of an early morning treat.

Faith

I agree, there really wasn’t any chocolate taste for me either. I mean, with a name like SUPER chocolate you’d expect there to be scads of flavour!

I am completely and utterly embarrassed to admit how long I’ve had this tea (3years)… And it’s only a sample size I had. 2 heaping tsps. I have been carting this one around with me, constantly putting off trying it ‘cause I thought it was an oolong for some reason. The person that gave it to me loved oolongs and I just assumed it was one. It’s not. It’s a green/rooibos tea. With chocolate.

So, I used my whole sample as it wasn’t much and it’s so old and so far… it smells ok. I think I was expecting more. Again, I’ve had it a long time, so my poor review is going to be… dated? Sure, that’s what I’ll say.

Taste-wise… I’m really not sure what to think about it. I notice the green tea… Is there cinnamon in there? Yes there is! I like that surprise! And to me it tastes like more of a cocoa powder than a piece of solid chocolate, which is fine… but it’s got an almost dry or powdery chocolate taste to it.

So, I’m not blown away by this one… The taste is fine and it held up over the years VERY well! Kudos for Davidstea and good storing (I guess) for that one.

Won’t miss it. Glad I finally drank it and can say goodbye. I wonder how many other teas I have like that… hmmmmm….

I’ve had my eye on this blend for a fair while – anything with chocolate in the title is an instant attractant, but there was always some other blend that I want to get my hands on more (with my limited money). As it turns out I almost waited too long as Davids Tea seems to have stopped making this particular blend. Thankfully I managed to get a pouch at a discount from their website before it was all gone.

The way the scents of the chocolate and spices combined together give the tea a deliciously fruity scent – how that works I have no idea. The flavour is maybe a bit heavy on the rooibos for my tastes, but the combination of the dark chocolate and the cinnamon and cloves was lovely. I think a straight green tea base would be a better option for this tea as the rooibos seems a bit out of place.

I call shennigans, where is the chocolate??? This tea is bitter, little the bitterness of dark chocolate without the chocolate taste…
The green tea comes through strong, and there is a slight hint of cinnamon.
The rooibos is detectable, and overall the tea tastes faintly of tobacco.

Next, I added a couple of drops of Stevia. I don’t generally sweeten hot tea, but it was an effort to fight the bitterness.
It was successful, less bitter, the rooibos became more pronounced. Surprisingly, the chocolate did not.

Even if wasn’t expecting chocolate, I don’t enjoy this tea….

Green tea with chocolate and cinnamon. Super Chocolate is SUPER YUM. This tea has a weirdly comforting flavour. It reminds me of something, but I can’t quite put my finger on it. I wish it was still readily available in the shops.

Today was the first time I have tried this tea. I ordered it online and finally got it in the mail today (along with a handful of others). I am not a fan of Green Tea and if I do drink it, I usually like to add a touch of lemon, but I LOVED the chocolate flavor in this cup. I didn’t get a hint of Green Tea. It tasted like a Cadbury Milk Chocolate bar =) I think I can now say I like Green Tea…as long as it tasted like a chocolate bar, lol.

I was really skeptical about this tea at first. Normally if employees don’t suggest a tea, I question if they like it or not. I bought this only to complete all the teas in the list and WOW was I amazed about how well it tastes. The chocolate and cinnamon really make this tea really delicious. I thought that I was going to not like it because I didn’t like teas with candy/chocolate added to them, but this one definitely changed my mind!

This smells exactly like cinnamon hot chocolate from my childhood; bonus points for that. It’s mild and tasty, but I will brew it longer next time. I am enjoying the cinnamon aftertaste though. This tea is enjoyable, but probably forgettable for me.
