Homemade Advent Calendar from Arby: Day 19

I am on break from school/work/internship, so I started my vacation with a relaxing bath that included tea, chocolate, a candle, and a book. Bliss!

My serving included a LOT of whole chamomile flowers/buds, so this was a very chamomile-forward cup laced with a bit of licorice sweetness. A nice relaxing blend.

Strange VariaTEA TTB – Tea #34

The last tea I’m trying from the TTB! \o/

There was honestly a shocking amount of leaf in this single sachet, like enough for a whole 16-ounce teapot. Odd because the other DT sachets I had weren’t like that, maybe they’re portioned by weight?

Anyway, this is a tasty herbal tisane. Soft and floral with a mellow citrus note and a hint of tartness. There’s an effervescence to it that makes me think of elderflower, which isn’t in the ingredients here. I guess it must be some combination of the chamomile with one of the lemony herbs? Anyway, it’s very nice, and thankfully I don’t taste the fennel or the licorice root.

Would actually consider ordering some of this one, but it doesn’t seem to be offered anymore. Oh well!

Chamomile and lemongrass flavours. Cozy night time tea. Not as good as Valerian Nights for getting me sleepy.

I am one of the chosen few who is able to enjoy this herbal blend. Its ingredients list contains most of the Steepster taboos (evil hibi, chamomile- the sleepy flowers of death, rose grips, licorice grossness etc.). Glad I picked it up when I was dubbed “the walking plague” by one of my classmates in February. That was a stellar month… At least this tea exists!

Aww, let’s hope you won’t have one of those dark periods EVER AGAIN.

Autistic Goblin

No matter how dark it gets, there is always tea to light the way.

I have had a pretty rotten weekend thanks to the bass loving neighbor. It’s strange because he has never played his music so loudly after 8pm and this weekend it was been going on ALL THE TIME. Like, I can feel the bass in my bed when I try to go to sleep. I’ve tried knocking and he ignores me. If I am arrested, it will be because I lost my mind and kicked his door in. I definitely need a calming tea.

But I have to say, I didn’t enjoy this one. It’s the camomile I think. I don’t like camomile and it is the star flavor here. I think if it were left out I would enjoy this tea quite a bit. The lemon is fine, and the fennel is fine. Just not enough to mask the camomile! I think I’ll go find a honeybush tea to enjoy before bed.

I forgot how sweet this tea is! Very strong chamomile flavour with a hint of lemongrass, a nice comforting cup before bed. I oversteeped this for a very long time and it was still absolutely perfect.

Wasn’t paying attention to what I opened and scooped into my cup. Only to realize as I went to take a nice big sniff of the brew that it had chamomile in it. insert tears and sad face here Allergies really suck! I was loving the Christmas fruit cake vibe of the dried leaves.

So I have no clue how this tea tastes, but my oldest is laughing as she sips away on the cup of tea she did not have to make for herself.

I like it as a before-bedtime tea.

Another retiring tea – and frankly one of the few on the list that I was really happy, just personally speaking, to see get the chop. I think it’s the weakest “Sleep” tea currently on the wall – a very basic lemon and chamomile blend that really doesn’t do the trick the same way our other, better tasting, sleep blends do.

Only advantage to this one, I suppose, is that the lemon and chamomile combo is a pretty commercial one that appealed a lot to Grocery Store Tea converts, but I think our other sleep/nighttime geared blends can also do that just as well.

Good riddance, weird lemon/licorice tasting chamomile disaster!

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
