Swampwater

When I first got this tea, I tried it and thought it was alright, then kind of forgot about it. But I tried it again recently, and you know what? It’s actually pretty darn good! It’s really got some great flavours in there that really come through. I sweeten my tea, so I’m not sure if that’s what helped, but after giving it a second chance, it’s become part of my regular list of go-to teas!

My husband really liked how the canister of this smelled, so we bought a bag. I’m not really crazy about any teas with sugar already added. If the tea needs sugar, I’d rather just add it in later.
We mostly drink this iced. When you brew it hot it’s more like hot cider with added fruity flavor. I can’t say that the flavor is bad, it’s just not something I go crazy for. It’s not an awful tea, but I’m not impressed enough to buy another bag.

I bought this tea way back when it had black cat candy sprinkles in it, so I’m a bit disappointed they took them out when they re-introduced it. Gimme my black cat sprinkles back!

Flavour-wise, this tea is tha-bomb-izzle. It’s great hot, and I would almost say even better iced. I don’t ice teas often because I feel like I’m wasting leaves, but this one? Totally worth the leaf sacrifice. Tastes like tea-punch. And the appearance of it? Looks exactly like I just dunked my cup in a swamp and scooped up whatever I found. True to the name!

I need to go buy myself a kilogram of this stuff…

It seems like this tea is a, “love it or hate it” kind of tea.

When David’s first introduced teas geared towards children, I got really excited. I was looking forward to child-friendly flavours and fancy teaware (which is adorable!). Swampwater piqued my interest just from it’s name and delicious smell. The clerk at the store insisted it was amazing. I’m a huge rooibos fan.

I brought it home and tried it. I was not expecting the colour. Something that looks like it was scooped out of a backyard pond. The flavour was underwhelming. I put it back in the cupboard and tried it again two months later. I added more leaves and upped the steeping time. Still no dice. There was still no flavour.

Cute teaware and stickers aside, I think I’ll stick to less gimmicky teas next time.

I had read so many rave reviews of this that I guess my expectations were too high. I have tried this hot and chilled, with milk and without but just don’t see the appeal. I think I wanted to love it too much.

I don’t like the color but that’s hardly a criticism. Overall, the fruitiness of this tea is great. It’s weird though… sometimes it tastes too tart and other times too sweet (it must just be me) but it’s still a great iced tea (good for summer, which is sadly ending soon).

Picked up a few teas at Davids on the weekend and the moment I got home I had to brew this one up and then ice it. I wasn’t disappointed, it’s fruity and sweet and such a great colour. I could see kids absolutely loving this tea.

Swampwater.. sounds appetizing doesnt it? I had smelled this one at David’s Tea about a month before I actually bought it, and I love this tea. Fruity, interesting and fun. I love roobios because you can steep it forever and it will never ruin the flavor (Organic cream of earl grey steeped too long is so gross). My favorite part is the fact it turns a disgusting color of green xD the little kid in me adores the little candy sprinkles. I love this one, naturally sweet, and definitely up there in my favorites :)

I wanted to like this tea. I really, really did.

I loved the smell. I adored the murky green colour. I thought it was going to be an amazing tea, and I even liked it the first time I tried it! But the reason why I liked it was because it was loaded with agave nectar, to the point where I could barely even taste the actual tea.

I tried Swampwater again several other times – both hot and iced – and each time I hoped that it would be a better experience. MAYBE I would like it this time. MAYBE there just wasn’t enough tea before. MAYBE it was just how the person serving me prepared it. But nope! Each time I was met with nothing but disappointment.

The colouring of the tea is pretty, but it’s all artificial, and so is the taste. When I drank it black, I didn’t taste any natural flavouring. It was more like I was tasting what somebody thought something was supposed to taste like. Does that make sense? I hope it does.

Anyway, aside from that, the tea itself was just hopelessly bitter, bland, and… well, gross.

The only time I liked it was when it was so full of agave nectar that I couldn’t taste anything else, and that is Not Good. If a tea only becomes palatable after one adds an overwhelming amount of sweetener, I consider that a failure.

I’m done with trying this tea, and I don’t plan on wasting my money on it again. I would advise everyone else to do the same.

Got this as a sample as I have heard of it and was again so I tried it. It’s got an interesting tangy, sweet taste and an interesting green tinge to it. It’s quite strange but with a name like swampwater what can you expect!? I quite like the taste it’s a nice blend with hints of various fruits and the green rooibos is very good. I quite enjoy this blend.
