Relief is on the way

Gail knows a thing or two about treating a cold. After all, she’s a mom. She says there’s nothing more soothing than a nice warm lemony drink, with a much-needed kick from a little green tea. And moms for thousands of years have been using ginger to soothe sore throats and runny noses. Try adding fresh garlic if you’re really desperate. (MK Kosher)

Ingredients: Organic: Chinese green tea, ginger, lemongrass, lemon myrtle.

I suppose this could be called a sipdown… I stole the last of my roommate’s pouch as… I’m sick again! Wooo. Less than two weeks after nursing a sore throat for 4 days, I have one again. Sigh. At least I don’t feel overall terrible, but sore throats are seriously the worst.

Anyways, this tea. Didn’t smell too bad (I was expecting it to be much worse), and surprisingly didn’t taste terrible (and the licorice was pretty mild, not sure I even could taste it), but there was something off about the flavour that I couldn’t place, and didn’t like. It wasn’t objectionable enough that I couldn’t finish the cup, and if I noticed that it helped I would certainly drink it again, but would never choose this as a cup of tea to enjoy. I don’t honestly know if it helped my throat a great deal; I followed it up with other sick-tea mixtures, so it’s tough to tell. I might pick up some Cold 911 (if that’s still around) to try if this thing doesn’t let up…

spraying your post with Lysol… feel better soon!

Probably a good idea! And thanks… hoping I recover quickly.

Gargle salt water! Suck on a clove of garlic! Drink lots of water.
My favorite tea ingredients for sore throat: ginger, echinacea, lemon, honey, elderberry
I hope you feel better soon!

Elderberry syrup!

and oregano!! that stuff will banish any sickness :D

Thanks guys. Wish I had picked some of that stuff up earlier… definitely pretty sick today, and I just got a bunch of immunizations as well, so am not at all motivated to go sort things out right now.

Indigobloom – I’ve had Oil of Oregano previously. It tasted terrible, even with honey, sigh. Not sure it worked terribly well either, but it was a few years ago.

Bummer that you’re sick, Kittenna :(

oh yah it tastes awful for sure!! I hate it. So I try to grab the capsules, but it’s more expensive that way and not as easily absorbed.
Get better soooooon!!

No idea why I brewed this, but I guess it’s what hit me in the head from cupboard #1 of tea. It’s okay, however yet again I oversteeped it, and so all I’m really getting is lemongrass.. which is okay since I like both of these things, just wish I’d picked differently.

This is a delicate tea, but still potent. I definitely recommend HOT (iced was quite nasty), and when you need a lift. I’m still battling a cold and this helps, as well as eased some of my migraine last night.

It’s good when you can barely taste anything…but is that really a good thing? IDK – and I don’t know about this one. It’s decent, but I’m not sure if I would buy it again. I definitely prefer Above the Weather.

Hope your weather improves soon!

1.5 tsp for 250mL water, 82 degree water, 4-minute steep.

It helps. Any steaming hot beverage will, of course, but I did find the lemon and ginger very soothing. I could not taste the licoreice, which is fine. as I don’t care much for licorice. The tea itself started to get bitter at the 4-minute mark.

It’s hard to rate this one fairly, as I am too congested to taste properly, and as my throat’s got that fire-on-sandpaper thing going. But it did give me a little boost — I just feel a bit happier after drinking it — and who couldn’t use a little extra green tea and ginger in their diet?

Definitely worth a try when miserable, but I’d have gone for the dicontinued Electric Ginger (is that was it was called? a lemon and ginger tea from DavidsTea back in the winter) instead, if I could.

Rating: 75.

La la lemon? I can’t remember if that had ginger though. I feel like there was an Electric Lemon as well. Might even have some of it still in the stash. Hmm…that might help kick my cold out.

Electric Lemon.
I remember it fondly…

Electric Lemon. Yeah, that was the gear. And it’s not on their Bring It Back From the Dead feature. Weh. (I’m voting for Lemon Cream Pie there.)

I think it is on the Bring it Back from the Dead List. Sort of in the middle right on a smaller sized tombstone.

Wicked! Thanks so much!

I keep switching which one I vote for. Mojito, Backed Apple, Through the Grapevine, Blazing Strawberries? So many to choose! Plus a few that pre-date my time with Davids Tea

Mojito!? I need to go vote.

Oh man. I would buy so much if mojito came back…

I’ve been feeling a little under the weather for about a week now and a friend of mine recommended that I try this tea. I had a cup of cold 911 yesterday and found that it really cleared my sinuses but didn’t do anything to relieve my other symptoms. The woman at the store even said that she finds it helpful for the nausea that comes along with the flu. As far as smell, i found it to be very similar to detox but for the taste, I found it to have much stronger citrus notes. I really liked how the flavours are balanced and are not competing; after all the last thing you want when you are sick is something really strong! It definitely lived up to its promise as a cold remedy but I can’t see myself reaching for it for the taste alone. As I am using my phone and can’t rate, I will just mention here that I am giving this tea an 80 (taking into consideration both, what it is meant for, and the taste).

I like Ginger Pu erh or Super Ginger when I’m sick.

Thanks heather. I haven’t tried either of those yet but will be adding them to my shopping list!

And actually, I really like Coco Lemon Thai for when I am not feeling well too. It is not as strong as the others, but it is comforting, and again, has a bit of ginger.

It’s a shame that David’s Tea discontinued this one! I’m glad I stocked up when I had the chance. I’m a huge green tea fan, so add in the fact that I currently have a wicked cold and this was a must drink for me today. I know not everyone is a fan of the taste, and while I don’t think it’s the best tasting tea in the world I definitely don’t mind the flavor. I can definitely taste the lemon, and I find this tea quite soothing when I’m sick. I’m not looking forward to having to find a replacement once my stash runs out.

I bought this recently as a cold has a hold of me. I originally went in to buy Cold 911 but they were out. The flavour of this one is not bad. I really don’t know how to compare it to anything. I definitely feel that it has helped my cold not develop any further. I am almost out of the pouch I bought last week as I have been drinking it multiple times a day. Need to go back and stock up on this one for sure.

This morning I feel a little sore throat! I take this tea I hope this cold gonna be a little on because the last one (a week ago) was kind of hard!

This tea is a good way to try to keep the cold away and the taste is good!!

So…here it is. I ran out of Dayquil today and I was miserable. I made a cup of this and I really am feeling better…I can breathe and my throat isn’t hurting as much and I feel less like death.

That all being said, I had to treat this like medicine, I could not stand the taste. My tastebuds could be off or it could be the fact that I’ve got chicken soup, bravissimo, and this in front of me and I’m switching between the three, but I found very little pleasure in the taste.

But hey, if it makes me feel better, who cares? It just won’t be one I drink when I’m not sick. The rating is based solely on how it made me feel so much better, and has nothing to do with taste.
