From DAVIDsTEA

This brew gives you a tasty boost with a unique combination of exotic ingredients. It combines four types of coffee beans with Argentinian maté, and laces them with carob, white chocolate and chicory. The result is sweet, rich and deliciously satisfying. Plus it’s a sweet treat you can enjoy guilt-free, since this blend has virtually no calories. No wonder they say maté makes you efficient.

I am a big coffee fan and so when I smelled the canister of this tea I was pretty excited! It is highly caffeinated, which is great when you are looking for a morning jolt, but the brew is so silky and rich you may give it a chance over your morning joe. Of course, being Canadian and having a Tim Horton’s gene has lead me to primarily enjoy this tea in the afternoon when you need a little decadent pick-me-up. It smells like a confectionary went into a forest and the liquor is simply devine.

Jumpy Monkey? Dude. Waves Auggy over.

Auggy

Another tea I have to try just because of the name! Though the confectionery going into the forest thing? That sounds pretty awesome, too.

B

Haha! I totally know what you mean about the Tim Horton’s gene! Where I’m from, other coffee shops, (Coffee Time, Starbucks, even) get pushed out of business by Timmy’s…

STILL not awake! So I decided to try this swap sample from BrewTEAlly Sweet :)

I’m not really sure what to make of this flavor. It is very toasty/roasty from the roasted mate/coffee beans but I’m not getting much else. That’s okay though. I am glad I got to try it but apparently I prefer my mate with a little something more to flavor it :)

I’m totally going to fall asleep during yoga class tonight, hahaha.

BrewTEAlly Sweet

Its a very roasty mate.

Stephanie

ooop, now I’m AWAKE O_O hah

BrewTEAlly Sweet

Ha ha it kicked in?

Stephanie

Apparently!

Some of you know but some don’t…I have been in the process of switching jobs over the past month and things have been VERY hectic. My swap recipients, I haven’t forgotten about you, I’m sorry it seems like I have (ummm because you don’t have your tea yet) but it will be on it’s way shortly.

I’m sitting at my new desk in my new office (which I don’t share with anyone and have therefore decorated with bright colors, flowers, and of course and MASSIVE selection of teas and a kettle for days like today!). It’s like 100 degrees in Northern Vermont today but my office is like an ice box, I’m totally not complaining, this rocks. So I’m organizing the files that I’ve inherited with a cardigan on sipping some Jumpy Monkey!!

I haven’t had any caffeine yet today so this is exactly what I needed. A nice strong, rich, smooth flavor with a spicy nuttiness that I just love. I can see this being my go to for first thing in the morning when I get to the office. Really just wanted to post an update because I miss Steepster and I didn’t want you to think I had forgotten to be drinking tea.

Lala

Congrats on your new job!

Veronica

Congratulations on the job and the rockin’ a/c! :)

(DavidsTea 2022: 33)
2022 Sipdown 36/365!

Still fairly tasty – roasted mate… but no banana. This was the second half of an opened sample, however, and probably 9 years old, so impressed that it still tasted as good as it did.

This is bizarre! I’ve never had tea with coffee beans in it. The loose leaves have a strange scent that I’m not sure if it’s from the coffee or another ingredient or if it’s one of the artificial ingredients (there is some artificial flavoring in this blend). I love the carob/cocoa nibs in it, I usually really like those and they look so pretty in the loose mix.
The scent of the brewed tea mellowed as I let it cool a bit. It’s less in-your-face bitter and more nutty.
Taste: Yay! Yet another tea I was expecting not to like from the scent that I ended up finding nice. It has a minty grassy tone to it, probably from the mate and nice roasty flavors in it. There are certain barky notes that remind me of damp trees. There’s a really smooth sweet aftertaste to it.

Desert matzos (dark chocolate, coconut, agave and pecans) that my sister just made, go GREAT with this.

So today at 4AM was my first day at me new job in my new city, as a full time baker:) I did however wake up this morning to a phone call from my dad with bad news, my grandpa passed. Not how I wanted to start my first day. Luckily the owners were sooooooo understanding. But I was so thankful for my Aladdin travel tea mug for these early morning shifts I will be working, 4AM-noon. This was a sample I received from DianeInOz a while back. And thank god! This was perfect for this morning! And I really enjoyed it. The coffee was not overpowering at all, not like I thought it would be thankfully. And surprisingly the matte was not too strong either. I really enjoyed how the White chocolate complimented the coffee beans. The nuttiness and earthiness did shine through the barks and almond. It was not a sweet dessert-y tea either just right. It was seriously a cup of coffee already including cream but in tea version. Very clever. This was yet another DAVIDsTEA that did not let me down. Thank you DianeInOZ Two thumbs up.

Stephanie

Full time baker? What a cool job!! Sorry about your grandpa :(

BrewTEAlly Sweet

thank you Stephanie

yyz

So sorry for your loss.

Veronica

Congratulations on your new job! I have all the respect in the world for early morning risers. Also, I’m sorry for your loss.

Fuzzy_Peachkin

Sorry got your loss, but congrats on the job. Take care!

Hmm smells like some sort of bizarre coffee. I had a mild ice coffee addiction in the summer (the joy of what spring AND summer courses will do to you), but the smell of this one isn’t really doing it for me.

Also getting a whiff (barely) of maybe bananas? I’m not seeing that in the ingredients. Just waiting on it to cool.

I am excited to be drinking this out of one of my many new mugs from DavidsTea since both my orders finally arrived today!

This one’s not for me. I’d just have coffee if I wanted coffee, rather than a coffee-tea hybrid.

TeaLady441

Yeah I know what you mean! Sometimes I feel like I’d be better off drinking cocoa too, instead of chocolate teas. Some hybrids just can’t compare.

Shmiracles

what kind of mugs did you get?! my roommates and tea guests all tell me how much they love my cups and mugs from davidstea. also i’m having this mate for the first time right now. and it’s definitely missing something.

Courtney

I got their “The Perfect Mug” with blue seagulls flying on it :) Reminds me of home haha. And also one of the Asian style mugs (neither are offered anymore) but I use the Perfect Mug always. I’m actually going to invest in another once some more summery ones come out :)

Shmiracles

i have 3 of the asian style mugs and i’m so glad i got them when i did. if i ever want to get someone a tea gift that’s new to tea i will probably get them a perfect mug . in fact maybe i’ll go order one for my sister right now.

i’m not very experienced with mates. but i like the 3 others i’ve tried from davidstea much more than this one.

hopefully i can pawn this one onto my boything, since he likes mate often.

drinking this cup at 4:30p will probably help my 5:30p run :)

Backlog from yesterday
I received this in a swap from Finn88 , I’m not a fan of coffee at all, but decided to give this one a whirl. I needed the caffeine intake. The leaves only smell lighty of coffee, which is good because I don’t like coffee.

Steeped it is much the same, there is a mild coffee taste to it, nothing too potent, but you can tell it’s there. I was actually able to drink it, unlike another tea that had coffee in it.

This is by no means a tea I would say oh I feel like having this today. However I would drink it knowing I need a caffeine boost.

Eh, just eh.

I got this as a sample with my order and I decided to make it as this was an early morning and I figured that a mate would do me well. I’m kind of unimpressed with this-I’m pretty sure that I oversteeped the leaves.

The tea is woody and the kind of bitterness of the coffee is there in the background.

Based on this steep I won’t repurchase, but if I ever come by another sample I will be sure to prepare it differently.
