From DAVIDsTEA

Spring eternal

Legend has it that Li Ching-Yuen was born in China in 1677 and died 256 years later in New York. His secret? Goji berries. Your secret? This hot pink tea filled with sweet, sweet goji berries, rosehips, citrusy lemon oil, apple, melon, marigold and hibiscus. It’s probably the most delicious longevity formula ever. Which is key, since you’ll be popping it for the next two centuries. Caffeine-free.

Ingredients: Apple pieces, goji berries, hibiscus blossoms, rosehip peel, honeydew melon cubes, marigold petals. With artificial flavouring*.

So, I am not a hibiscus fan at all. I have not had this tea in 3 years since I first got into tea, but alas, I bought 50 grams of it. Why? Because I have been making pitchers of iced tea to use up my herbals but none of my current herbals are that great iced. I needed a tea that had a pretty strong flavour when iced so that way I could mix in a bit of my current herbals that had a weaker flavour in order to use it up. So, I made a 2L pitcher of iced using about 8 tsp of goji pop and 5 tsp of some plain lemongrass tea. The result was a fruity, slightly citrusy, and only mildly tart iced tea. I like it and so does my husband- a much better improvement than the iced teas I was making before.

Overall I’m still giving Goji pop a rating of 65 because I’m not a fan of it on its own. I’m only going to be buying hibsicusy tea to make iced teas mixed with others in my collection. Otherwise I would not purchase that otherwise.

I was in David’s Tea last week with my boyfriend while shopping around for other teas (He doesn’t like tea, dunno why) when another lady was buying this tea, and he caught a whiff of it, turns to me and whispers “that tea smells phenomenal!” and oh sweet baby jesus does it ever! When I bought some this week, I tried it as iced tea first, it turns a lovely bright red, and oh so delicious, a bit tart, yet sweet at the same time, I have yet to try it hot, but my boyfriend did ask me to make him some iced Goji Pop to take to work, so I’m slowly getting him hooked on David’s Tea haha, anyways, its yummy, with just a lil bit of agave nectar, its fantastic! Mmm mm good :D lol

I tried this iced, and sweetened with agave syrup. It’s nice. Next I may try it with regular sugar.

I’m glad the hibiscus isn’t stupid overpowering, but I’m wanting a bit more fruity flavour to it.

Goji Pop is unique. I can’t say much more than that. It’s unique yet delicious at the same time and I’m enjoying the tartness a whole lot. There’s something about the taste that I can’t pin point…perhaps it’s the honeydew melon. This tea is unlike any other and I must make sure I never run out of it!

Drank this again…this wonderful…yummy mouthfull of goodiness…oh yes Goji Pop…delicious ripe fruit and no over tartness or bitterness even if you let it steep long and pour once, twice, three times and you are the Winner! This is not a apple strawberry oh I’ve had this before tea. There is more ripe pineapple guava sunshine without being able to distinguish what it is that is so elusive. Like wine tasting…go figure it out for yourself. Good mood lifter. Can’t be grumpy with this one. My almost favorite!

I have not grown to love this yet, but I do appreciate it’s tart fruity flavour. I wish there were more goji berries in it (but that may just be the package that I got).

I actually don’t find it too flavourful on its own. I add a tiny spoonful of brown sugar which usually sweetens it to a satisfying taste. A nice tea to bring in a thermos and sip throughout work or class.
