From DAVIDsTEA

Peace and love

Our deliciously fruity blend has its roots in the 1960s, when every cool hippie was growing kombucha. Today, hipsters are again promoting this fermented tea for its delicious taste and good vibes. We’ve combined it with oolong, mango, pineapple and safflowers to make it taste like a golden ray of psychedelic sunshine. Yeah.

Ingredients: Oolong tea, mango, pineapple, Kombucha Powder, safflower petals, artificial flavouring*.

Allergens: Gluten-free wheat starch

I don’t quite know what kombucha is, nor how it factors into this tea. I see that some kind of flour/gluten is listed in the ingredients but it didn’t seem to change the tea much in my opinion. Overall this is a black tea with strong mango and fruit notes. Hot, I was a little skeptical as I found it to be a little plain. Honestly, I don’t prefer many tropical-flavor teas hot, and they’re not flavors I get excited about. Iced, this was much nicer, since it gave me the dark body and tannin kick of black tea, with a pleasant mango flavor, perfect for hot days. I bought a pre-scooped bag of this loose leaf and found that the pineapple pieces were enormous and had to be broken up by hand to be spread throughout the bag’s worth. Drink it iced, is my advice. Anyone know more about kombucha that I’m missing?

I’ll admit it, I was scared of this tea. Kombucha….not so sure about all that. But, I got a sample from the awesome Virginia, so I had to try! First, there was a GIANT chunk of mango in the tin and some tiny chunks of pineapple too. This pleases me. So, I brewed it up and took the first apprehensive sip and it tasted like….mango. That’s it, nothing weird or alarming lol. It just tasted like mango and also a little bit malty with some oolong in the background. Oh, and the tiniest hint of pineapple. I liked it! I’m so pleasantly surprised.

A very small sample of this one.

I’m finding this one really doesn’t taste any different than the one I had this morning, other than the tea’s pineapple is stronger. But even then, not by much.

Wouldn’t get this one again. I already have a lot of teas that are very similar to this one so it won’t be on the rebuy list. Glad to have tried it, but not for me.

It smells good and it tastes good, but it is not worth taking a lot of time for description. What you smell is what you get. Very peachy and sweet.

This tea has been holding my interest for quite awhile – I love mango and other tropical fruit flavours even if kombucha and I haven’t always gotten along very well. To be honest I’m not getting any kombucha at all in the flavour as the tea mostly tastes like a tropical fruit salad with emphasis on the mango – and the dark oolong base. It doesn’t seems to re-steep very well unfortunately as it looses most of the fruit flavouring and is rather watery as well.

Day 7 of the Easter Advent calendar (5 and 6 are coming eventually…I opened the doors to know what they were, but haven’t had a chance to consume them yet).

I bought this tea for a friend (not much; only about 25 g or so) thinking it sounded good in theory, but might be terrible. And what better way to find out if a tea is good than to buy some for a friend and see if they like it? :) She thought it was good, but something was “weird” about the taste that she couldn’t put her finger on. So with that in mind, I tried it.

And I agree. There’s something “weird” about this tea that I can’t quite place. The mango and pineapple in it reminded me of Mango Madness (white tea base) but the oolong gave it a bit of a different flavour. Maybe the weird taste of the tea is the kombucha? I have no idea what kombucha tea tastes like, so that might be it. The after-taste was especially strange. I dunno how much I like it.

Verdict: this tea tastes so similar to Mango Madness, which I already have in my cupboard and really like, that I can’t see myself buying it. Plus that “weirdness” to it. Puts me off. I don’t know if I’d recommend it, so I’ll refrain from that until I try it again.

I feel about this tea the same way I feel about Mango Madness by Davids Tea. Smells amazing, but doesn’t deliver that fruity punch when tasted. I don’t get a lot of mango or pineapple out of this. For some reason this comes across as peachy to me which I do enjoy. If you like a mild fruit blend then this might just be the tea for you. I’m curious about the pro-biotic effects that the salesperson told me about when purchasing.

I actually really like this tea. I find it tastes similar to the Long Life Oolong by DT, but because this tea has more leaves and fewer “bits” than LLO, you get more cups out of it and it has higher-quality resteeps. I didn’t find the kombucha flavour overpowering either.

This is an Oolong for people who like black tea. I loathe black tea and I can’t get beyond that.
I can taste the pineapple and mango, and the kombucha adds an interesting note. I like kombucha somewhat, but I know some people find it gross.

This is a tea to sample, don’t buy it till you’ve tried it.
Blech….

the dry leaf smells BEAUTIFULLY like mango, and the liqueur doesn’t disappoint. i put just a small bit of sugar to bring out the flavours and it’s just perfect. i predict i’ll be keeping this in my permanent stash.
