Yummy. I had this before in the DT 24 days of Christmas, but had it way too dilute. This is delicious. I tasted raspberries, or more accurately, “something fruity” that I later discovered were raspberries. I was trying to decide if it was strawberry or cherry before I looked at the description. The scent is marvelous, rich and chocolately. I didn’t get an overpowering chicory note from this one, which is good, since I’m not the world’s biggest chicory fan. This is definitely going on the to-order list. Definitely. Thank you, Aisling of Tea for the sample!

Steeped 4 (ish) teaspoons for five minutes in 750 ml water.

Thank you, Sare, for this sample!

This one smelled really good right off the bat. Maybe I didn’t steep it enough, but all I got out of it was chocolate flavored water with a carob aftertaste. I have more, and I’ll try steeping it longer because of all the great reviews, but I don’t have high hopes.

Mmmmm. It smells like carob!
Brewed up, the scent is mellower – really dark and rich and creamy.
The flavor is a little strange. The tea is much thinner than I was expecting. There is a light fruity note on top, from the raspberries.
I like the way the dark somewhat bitter chocolate and the berry flavors play together.
Not bad. Let’s see how much energy this gives me…

Thanks to Jenn for sending me a bit of this tea to try. I’ve been hearing so many wonderful things about it that I was really eager to taste it for myself.

And I’m really glad to be trying it because it’s really fantastic. Chocolate-y with a delicious raspberry note. The mate provides a solid background of rich flavor that is earthy but not overwhelmingly so.

It’s awesome.

I seem to be on a mate kick tonight. This is another one, I can’t believe I haven’t posted a tasting note.
It’s good I like it, but the raspberry is a bit weird to me. I don’t think fruit belongs in my mate. This is full of roasted, toasty, nutty, chocolate goodness with a hint of something almost coffee ish in the background – and then there is the raspberry just spoiling the party. I’m being harsh, I do like it, but without the fruit I would LOVE it.

graceatblb

I had some of this tonight too. Great minds…The raspberry completely killed it in a very bad way.

Dexter

Yep it did. I was organizing my teas tonight, I find it odd that I haven’t drank this for awhile, and then you sort your cupboard and I’m suddenly craving old favorites. LOL, just when I thought I was moving away from the desserty type teas.

Nxtdoor

chocolate rocket is good, i just finished my 50 grams the other day. I would buy it again, just not soon, i have a lot of tea that needs drinking (large quantity, not so much variety)

This is my favorite before-school morning tea (not to be confused with the ride-to-school morning tea and the at-school-in-the-morning tea). And I’m glad it is, because this makes me want to get out of bed in the morning (so that I can have as many cups of it as possible). I think it has something to do with the raspberries and the chicory root, both of which I love. This is a tea I would like to have in my cupboard always.

ALSO TO NOTE that I got a fb offer from Davids for a “free 2 oz. with a purchase of 2 oz.” I was thinking of refilling an old Davids tea canister with this, and went in. The lovely man at the counter told me that I could get ANY OTHER 2oz (I had thought that you just get 4 oz. of the same tea for 2 oz., which is still a good deal, but) so I got a FREE TWO OUNCES OF GUANGZHOU MILK OOLONG. SO MY TWO FAVE TEAS IN ONE DAY. HOW AMAZING IS THAT.

Well, that was a fun freak out… and a much needed one, because I’m taking the SAT tomorrow (gulp). My dad offered to drive me, and I’m meeting my friend at Starbucks (I’m bringing a drawstring filter of tea so that I can just ask them for hot water, i.e. my favorite thing on their menu) before we go in. I’m nervous, obviously, but a little excited because hopefully I won’t have to take it again.
Well, I’m off to cram my brain with random vocabulary and various formulae. Altogether , it’s appropriate that I’m using this tasting note to say all this stuff because I’m planning to bring a large thermos of this tea to the test. I hope, for all your sakes, you are done with SATs (and i’m sure y’all are).

24 Days of Tea Day #2!
Another one I had never tried, I always go for jumpy monkey. I started drinking this cup, sipping away and got completely distracted online shopping and now that it’s 3/4 gone here I am!
I expected it to be too sweet. I find mate to be naturally sweet, almost to a fault. But when I tasted it, it was slightly bland. I added a bit of milk and sugar and now we’re back in business.
I know it raspberry, but everything combined almost tastes more banana-y to me. It’s good, but I wont stock it.

I have a sample of this thanks to DaisyChubb! I have returned from Las Vegas and even after sleeping a ton yesterday, I’m still exhausted, so I thought maybe this would be a good pick me up. I have a roasted maté with chocolate and almonds from Argo Tea that I haven’t had in a long time, but the aroma of this steeped really reminds me of it. Chocolately, almondy, roasty. There’s also another note in there that must be the raspberry, because it’s a bit berryish, but only faintly. It doesn’t stick out, really.

First I tasted chocolate and nutty almondy flavor (not almond extract/marzipan flavor, but more acutal nut flavor), but there was a note I couldn’t really identify at first that threw me off. I think it is the raspberry, but it didn’t really taste like raspberry. Then I read some reviews on here and now am definitely noticing a distinct banana flavor. It’s pretty tasty and I’m enjoying the cup, but there’s something about the fruit combo in there that’s throwing me off. I feel like I might prefer my roasted maté sans fruit. Also things that taste like bananas (that aren’t bananas) aren’t really my scene. But I’m glad I got to try this one, and I do feel a bit more awake now!

Yes, there is raspberry in it. I never get a banana flavour myself.

Finally a mate I can handle! This tea smells so good when you open it up… I smell chocolate oh heavenly chocolate and then the raspberries yummmm! You can also smell the mate a bit which to me smells like coffee which I don’t really care for…After I brewed it I still smell the raspberries and the a hint of chocolate.

The first taste I get chocolate, mate, then a hint of raspberry at the end, wow this is really good and I can’t wait for the energy to kick in! It is creamy and so good! As it cools I still smell the raspberry but taste banana oh interesting but I love this tea! I could still have more chocolate in it because there is never enough chocolate but oh well! I think next time I might not steep as long.

This was my first Mate and my first Mate love! Though I do have Carnival from Winston’s Tea Company and that tastes like chocolate and caramel and a slight roast Mate taste.

Oh so still delicious…

This tea is certianly my weekend pick me up tea! So for sure my weekend day start tea is this. Yumm! and this weekend I tried soaking the tea first in cool water; I understand this is probably not best for a flavoured mate, but it worked and I must say it did bring out the flavour slightly. I did notice that soaking the tea first made the chocolate far more subtle and gave this tea more of an amaretto taste as it helped bring the almonds to the fore front.

I can’t wait for next Saturday, already!
