Apres Ski

Initial impressions- An unidentifiable sweet smell. The prior reviews are correct, almost rotting fruit, but not horrible. Like something just overripe but not yet disgusting, just giving off a sickly sweet odour. Not my favourite in terms of scent. I can see lots of black tea leaves, some white leaves (marigold petals), some white and brown chunks (fig and burdock root?).
How I brewed it- 94 degrees (we have an automatic hot water dispenser at work, not a kettle, so it’s 4 degrees below what I would make it at at home, 1/4 tsp of agave nectar, 6 minutes.
First sips- Tea does not match its rotting fruit scent at all, but it isn’t spectacular, that being said. I haven’t eaten burdock root and do not like figs (with the exception of Forbidden Fruit, which was why I gave this tea a shot), so I’m not sure what I’m tasting, but I find it has somewhat of a non-taste with a very sweet aftertaste. Not horrible, but not something I’d spend money on again.

It didn’t do it for me.
I made it with boiling water, tried in hot – wasn’t impressed so added milk. Milk improved it somewhat. It made it drinkable but to be honest I wouldn’t be rushing to make it again.
I then tried it with honey (figs and honey go together) and it didn’t improve. That said I rarely feel sugar improves tea plus I worry about it rotting my teeth so I am disposed not to like it.
I would not buy this tea again and I’m not sure I’ll finnish the 50g bag I have of it.

So I smelt this this morning and decided to take the plunge even though the smell was sort of iffy to me.

I’m very glad I tried it and didn’t let the smell sway my dedication to trying every DavidsTea I can.

This is a truly wonderfully smooth and velvety tea.
It is fussy as proper steeping and measuring out is critical,however true tea perfectionists should be just fine.

I think it makes a very nice balanced morning tea.
I actually quite enjoyed the taste and just it’s over all mellowness.

good for lazy mornings,rainy days and paired with breakfast.

I’m actually surprised that other people really hated or did not care for this tea very much..perhaps they changed the formula because I found it very pleasant.

Yes, it’s true. Dry, this tea smells TERRIBLE. Steeped, it’s fruity in a weird way, and the citrus and cinnamon along with the fig are kind of… fresh. I can’t describe it. XD The actual tea flavour is very weak, and the colour was very pale despite steeping according to directions.

The smell is really like rotten fruits and garbage… even steeped this tea smell really bad!
Its hard to tell how it taste… i can’t taste any cinnamon, orange or figs . Makes me think of some bad smelling bitter rootbeer .
I just took 2 sip and wasted the rest.

While usually David’s little descriptions make me laugh, this one is just way too high-energy for the actual tea. My overall impression of this tea was a resounding “Meh.” It’s a fairly tasty black tea with all the sweet fruity stuff, but nothing really spectacular about it. No one taste stands out in my mind, and it has this distracting scent that kinda reminds me of Barbies.

One of the few teas that I had to toss out after a few sips. I really could not stand the taste nor smell of this tea. First smell it is ok, I thought the taste would make up for it. Then trying out the rest of the tea….oh my. It tasted like alcohol to me (I personally hate the taste of alcohol). Nothing about this tea is good…which is a huge shame because I was kinda looking forward to liking every single DAVIDsTEA.

I actually quite like this, it tastes a lot like rootbeer/rum toddy! I love the taste of rootbeer but don’t like drinking carbonated soda, so this is a quite the pleasant find! I quite liked this, I was quite terrified when I first smelled it, but i thought it tasted nice :)

Really didn’t like this. Couldn’t finish it. I love figs so I thought it would be perfect but it tasted like overly sweet plastic. Not a fan.

I’ve been putting off drinking this sample from Hapatite for a really long time, based on the reviews here on Steepster. To my great surprise, I loved it! Lovely fig and cinnamon flavours, followed up by delicious burdock which lingers at the end of the sip. If this was still around, and I had access to DAVIDsTEA (c’mon, give us international shipping!!) I would definitely consider picking this up! The only issue, which didn’t really bother me too much, was that there was an odd sourness at the end of the sip, which I couldn’t quite place. I wanted to try resteeping my leaf, but sadly it wasn’t to be – my mam threw it out, again. It’s a shame, but I’m glad I got to enjoy what I had. Now to search for a cinnamon, fig and burdock tea in the UK! I’m sure it will be easy…
