From DAVIDsTEA

Citrus country

Most people associate oranges with Florida, but they were actually first cultivated in China thousands of years ago. So it should come as no surprise that orange is the perfect complement to pu’erh, China’s King of Tea. Taste it for yourself in this deep crimson tea, a delicious balance of tart hibiscus, juicy citrus and earthy pu’erh, with the lingering sweetness of licorice root. Orange you glad we didn’t add banana? (MK Kosher)

Ingredients: Organic: Fair Trade Certified pu’erh tea, Fair Trade Certified hibiscus, lemon myrtle, licorice root, orange oil, lemon oil, grapefruit oil.

Price per 50g: $8.50

One of my favorite teas from DT, this is delicious both cold and warm. It has the traditional dark profile and a pleasant overtone of orange. You really can’t go wrong with it, except they discontinued it! :(

’Here’s Hoping’ Teabox Round #4 – Tea #9

I woke up thinking of pu-erh due to a dream with pu-erh being important to some spyish plot. I thought I’d give this one a try from the teabox, though the hibiscus was a little terrifying. It doesn’t seem to add much to the flavor but some tartness, but that could be the citrus too. The flavor isn’t the best (hard to explain), but I expected worse.

All I taste when I drink this is the hibiscus. So, I guess if you like hibiscus but want some caffeine in your tea, maybe it would be a good option? It’s very tart and refreshing, but I was disappointed by how little I could taste of the pu’erh.

For me this is very meh. I don’t know if Pu’erh is just not my thing, but I wasn’t thrilled by this tea. It was alright, but the orange is not that noticeable, and it gets more dull as you drink… I only got a small sample of it, so I finished what I had but I would not buy it…

From CANTB

I don’t mind the pu’erh part of this. It’s deep and rich and has a bit of body. But there’s too much and hibiscus and not enough orange for my tastes. Thankfully it lacked the metallic taste that hibiscus can sometime impart, though.

The hibiscus tartness got even stronger as it cooled.

I must say that it is a very nice tea if you like oranges. It’s really a pure orange flavor, not that fake, sweet, medicinal, artificial orange taste. It’s the real thing in here. And that’s really about it, it’s a very simple tea and it actually reminds me a bit of orange pekoe (my mom concurs).

I enjoyed it though I like teas with a stronger flavor to it. I left my tea bag in there so that I could get a richer flavor. It was cold once I finished my cup and I still liked it. Next time I think I’ll need to try this as an iced tea.

My favourite orange tea of all times. While it’s combined with aged pu’erh it brings out complex notes of earthy-ness.

I was excited to try this because I like orangey-citrussy teas but I was disappointed in this. It had an really sweet aftertaste that I did not like.

Beautiful dark red color and the orange aroma and taste is very good. Great tea for the afternoon.
