Amanda sent me some of this! Thanks so much! I have been wanting to try it for a while!

It smells a little like Birthday Cake, I suppose.

The post-infusion liquor is very murky green-grey-brown and texture-E.

The flavor is sweet from not only the rooibos(s) but the sprinkles and probably even the ice cream bits…which also makes this creamy. It’s not as cake-E per say but moreso reminiscent of the frosting.

Regardless – it’s tasty!

It’s a good sweet treat and sometimes that’s all you need :D

I am sitting out on my lovely screened porch drinking a cuppa Birthday Cake from Rebekah Elaine. Beautiful day in the upper 70’s. The pond outside is active with an egret and two great blue herons. The tree nearby has a goldfinch nest and they are singing up a storm. Mother and Father Goose are walking with their ten goslings. What could be more perfect. Love this tea! Very much a dessert tea. The sprinkles in the dry mix are cute an cheerful. How they get that cake element in there I have no idea but I taste it. No caffeine so I don’t know if I will get much done today. I might just sit and read and drink tea!

Sounds like a lovely day!

Mmm… Birthday Cake. I have Birthday Tea by Adagio (also has colorful sprinkles in the mix) I wonder how Davids’ variant compares. I LOVE my birthday tea :)

I’ve only had the the David’s so I can’t tell you. Maybe I’ll keep the last bit of what I have and then if I ever get a chance to try it, I’ll post it.

Arshness

I could send you a sample of Adagio’s blend. :)

carol who

Really? If you don’t mind, I’d love it. What would you like me to send?

Arshness

Nothing silly. You sent me a whole package of teas XD
Please check my cupboard. If there is anything else you wanna try, tell me. :)

Finally got to try this again. It’s sweet, and tastes like cupcakes or maybe cotton candy. I like it a little more after having a similar tea.

Ever since going gluten-free I’ve had to give up a lot of delicious, gluten-y things—cake being one of the hardest. Nothin’ like going to someone’s birthday party, only to turn the cake down because you can’t eat it. You then have to explain why you’re being such a party-pooper… “No, no, it’s not that I don’t want the cake… I just can’t eat the cake. Gluten-intolerance, you see.” Then they look at you with pity. Because really, what’s a birthday without cake??

I don’t feel so bad anymore though, now that I have this tea! With a sprinkle of brown sugar + splash of whipping cream I can almost feel the spongy texture of a slab birthday cake on my tongue as I sip. And the smell! The smell alone has my head spinning.

Next party I attend I’ll be bringing a thermos of this tea with me and sipping all through the chorus of “Happy Birthday” with a smile…

So you have the mother of all cake cravings. Like so bad that you’re tempted to pour syrup over toast in a paltry attempt to fashion your own (this is not worth it. Trust me.)

In times like these, I turn to this tea. This is the “cakeyest” blend I’ve had so far. It swiftly kicks the rooibos flavor aside, leaving it to whimper faintly in the corner. I like to use a generous amount of leaf and add milk for a creamy cake batter feel. It’s so sweet and decadent that it’s not an everyday tea, but perfect for when the craving hits.

Cake addicts rejoice. There is a cure.

Hahaha, nice review! I’d suggest trying Pineapple Upside Down Cake from Della Terra as well – you might like it :) I’m savouring my last bit of Birthday Cake… mmmm.

Alysha

Thanks! That one is on my shopping list. Trying soo hard to resist their Easter sale right now lol

Kittenna

Haha… I definitely failed at that. Placed an order a few hours ago (but it’s a joint order with a couple friends, at least!)

Alysha

Haha nice…in that case it doesn’t count ;)

Kittenna

I like your thinking :P

After trying this one at home with milk and sugar added, I think I know why it isn’t a favourite of mine. Self-confession time, I’m the type of person who begrudgingly eats all the cake first to make the world happy while I’d be happier with just a plate of icing. I eat it separate so that nasty cake stuff doesn’t pollute the best sweet sugary part. This tea makes me have to have them combined, and honestly my inner five year old sits back and doesn’t wanna. Sorry birthday cake tea, I think I’ll go back to faking a love of cake to cover an addiction to icing.

Don’t feel bad … when I was in college, finals food was a tub of Betty Crocker fudge frosting, straight up with a spoon!

So I can’t quite remember where I got this from. I’m pretty sure I got it from Momo when she was selling some stuff, but don’t quote me on that. Lol. In any case, I didn’t realize it was rooibos when I got it. And I’ve pretty much determined that I dislike rooibos, so I had some major doubts when I opened the bag.

But it smelled so tasty that I couldn’t resist at least trying it before tossing it in my swap bin. It has the same smell as Davids Red Velvet Cake, which I love, but the rooibos gives it that particular minty-esque smell that I’ve come to associate with rooibos. Which also has the unfortunate side effect of transferring into whatever the tea is, if it’s rooibos heavy.

Anyway, it brewed up a nice reddish color that had the same smell as the dry tea. Without any sweetener it tasted vaguely similar to what it smelled like, kinda cakelike. Like a spice cake maybe. After adding sweetener, the taste was definitely much better, more like cake. But I could definitely tell it was rooibos because of the that dratted minty-ness.

Overall I didn’t mind the taste that much because it enhanced the overall taste of the tea instead of killing it for me. But if I had my choice between this and Red Velvet Cake, I would go for the Red Velvet Cake. Though in a pinch, this would do.

I tried this as the tea of the day yesterday. They had to make it special for me as they had run out, so I probably got an excellent sample. It was… yummy, no other real way to describe it. It did taste like cake and ice cream. It was very sweet and rich. Would have given it a higher rating but there are too many others of DAVIDs Rooibos that I like even better!

Hello!!!!! Happy Chinese Vietnamese New Year! I’m currently in Los Angeles. All I can say is wow! Steepster got a brand new look! It looks great!! Im actually relaxing on vacation. Seahawks won the Super Bowl! I mean I know Peyton deserves a ring but still I was rooting for Seahawks, though the Saints will forever be my team! lol. My family and I were mostly in Little Saigon and I was drinking more Chrysanthemum tea more than ever. I found this tin in my bag and I was in a happy joy mood! I ordered a hot water from service and over steeped it..though its not bitter haha.

Tomorrow (Valentine’s day) marks the one year anniversary of me owning Java (Ceylon Star). Because I don’t know his actual birthday, I’m going to treat our anniversary as his birthday, so to celebrate, I’m making him a “birthday cake” mash out of a LOT of Birthday Cake rooibos, rolled oats, alfalfa pellets, “fibre max” (a horse feed comprised of beet pulp and soy hull pellets, which are then soaked before feeding to prevent choke), a little bit of sweet COB (molasses coated Corn/Oats/Barley), applesauce, and banana chips.

Happy Anniversary PonyPants! <3

Happy anniversary! Btw, didn’t know you lived here too.
