From DAVIDsTEA

This fruity organic black tea is our ode to the blueberry. Long before the “superfood” era, blueberries were called “star berries” and renowned for their healing properties. Dark, sweet and plump, their juicy flavour comes through perfectly in cakes, jams – and this satisfying blend of black tea, elderberries, cornflowers and stevia. It’s the perfect companion to your morning toast.

Ingredients
Organic black tea, Organic black currants, Organic elderberries, Organic blueberries, Natural blueberry flavouring, Organic raspberry flavouring, Cornflower petals, Organic stevia extract.

Instructions
1-2 Perfect Spoonfuls of tea
475 ml (16 oz) of 95℃/200℉ water for hot tea or 295 ml (10 oz) for iced

This is my first experience with a flavored tea. A recent Tea 101 class got me interested in teas in general and I’ve ordered several. This is the first to arrive. I prepared the tea using a tea strainer & my bottled water as I had learned. I steeped it for 5min (4-7min suggested) (I’m having trouble with the slider below.) using suggested temperature in my preheated cup (I am near sea level so water boils at 212 deg F). Initially, the aroma was reminiscent of real blueberries, but the flavor throughout the tasting was rather weak – disappointing in fact.
UNTIL it cooled to warm at which point it tasted strongly of the flavor for which it is named – I was much relieved! I look forward to many more cups of this tea and to experimenting with iced tea.

Holy goodness I’m obsessed with this tea! It smells lovely right out of the package and the flavor itself is mild upfront, with a wonderfully tangy blueberry aftertaste that sneaks up on you. I add a small amount of skim milk and like it without honey, though I’d like to try some agave in it or maybe even some vanilla. I might also have to taste the blueberries out of the steeper… they do look delicious!

I picked up fifty grams of this in a tin in hopes it would be one of my favourites. I’m so glad my intuition was right since I usually pick up twenty-five grams of tea for first timers! The smell is definitely strong. I had a true blueberry aroma. The first time I steeped it it had a nice flavour to it, it at first tasted a bit watered down but the sweetness kicked in afterwards. I later on tried it with a bit of milk and sugar and it tasted amazing! This will definately be one of my staples since it is such a comforting, and yummy tea to drink for those with a sweet-tooth that want to unwind a bit.

This is another one of my favourites! The smell is intoxicating both the dry leaf and steeped tea. The taste of the tea is really true to the smell so if you don’t like the smell you probably wont like the tea. I would definetely reccomend this!

I bought this tea as I LOOOOVE blueberry jam. The smell is just like opening a homemade jar of jam. The taste is a bit light for me but I don’t add sugar and I think that would brig this tea out a bit more. 100g is not going to last long ….

Yum. Funny enough I am not really a fruity tea girl but I do like this one. It is very tasty and quite sweet even without any added sugar or honey. True to its name it tasted like blueberry jam.. If only I had a scone to go with it.

To celebrate the first of November, I decided I felt like having blueberry tea (why? I don’t know). The last time I had this was in the summer, as an iced tea which was SUPER yoms but today it was great as a warm tea. I had it straight with no agave and it had a nice distinct blueberry flavour and was slightly sweet. I’m glad this is on DAVIDsTEA’s permanent shelf because I’ll probably want to repurchase again :)

Backlogging,

Had a cup of this yesterday, I have to admit it wasn’t my first, and will not be last.

This tea is amazing! the Blueberry jam flavor is spot on, and it is so comforting.

Dry Smell: Blueberry Pie Filling. Then the stevia. The stevia hits the back of your throat and has a weird cooling effect. I’m not sure if I like that or not. I’m not very familiar with stevia, so we will see. I’m not smelling tea yet.

Steeped Smell: Earthy tea smell immediately followed by the blueberry pie filling smell. I can’t just say it smells like blueberries because the smell is somehow sweeter, like jam or preserves, not quite fresh. Which is appropriate since this is named blueberry JAM.

Taste: I’m a major sweet tooth, so even after trying a sip without sweetener, I added my usual teaspoon of honey. There is a definite astringency to this tea. I’ve had this problem with a couple of DAVIDsTEA products, and haven’t yet figured out how to make it disappear. Only when I am swallowing and after do I get any hint of blueberry and sweetness. I will try this iced, but for now, I’m not really a fan of that astringent taste. Anyone have recommendations on how to make a smoother cup or should I expect this from all of their black teas? I haven’t tried their others yet…

It tastes like Blueberry Jam. I don’t taste any black tea (which is fine by me).
