From DAVIDsTEA

Cream of the crop
Coconut and mint might not be a familiar combo, but trust us. It’s seriously addictive. As soon as you open your first tin and experience its fresh, sweet-mint aroma, you’ll understand. It’s the kind of tea you always want to have within arm’s reach. It makes a sweet little afternoon pick-me-up. Or a perfect finale to any meal. Or a midnight snack that won’t keep you up all night. Refreshing, creamy, sweet and comforting, it’s everything a tea ought to be.

Price per 50g: $7.50

Ha! I like how as I was brewing up the last of this, out of nowhere, “Leggy Blonde” by Flight of the Conchords started playing in my head. I mean, this tea is good, but not good enough to justify triggering Flight of the Conchords song and dance.

I won’t get more but it was still a fun ride while it lasted.

What the heck, I swear I have reviewed this one before. And considering that my bag is almost gone, I have definitely drank it quite a few times. Oh well.

I love mint, so I figured I would like this one. I mostly get apple notes with mint coming to the forefront. It seems an odd combination to add coconut, but it actually works here. The creamy coconut is in the background, but it is definitely there. Delicious! Hopefully I can pick up some more before it disappears.

Along with Vanilla Orchid oolong, this is one of very few new DT I have enjoyed in the last year or so. It is surprisingly good and refreshing!

tigress_al

Oh yeah, they really did a good job with that Vanilla Orchid oolong as well

I used 1.25 tablespoons for 375 ml of water.

The longer infusion really brings out the flavour. I am reminded of the taste of baked goods or cookies.

I am still not a fan of the apple-mint combination. I feel that it results in an overall bitter taste and reminds me of when I eat fruit too soon after brushing my teeth.

Another generous sample from tattooed_tea! I love coconut, I love mint and I love cream so I’ve been drooling over this blend since it first came out. I’m trying to sample a bunch of DAVIDsTEA blends before I make a big purchase though, so I don’t end up with something icky I don’t like. You never really know with them—most of their blends I love, but some are really hit or miss.

This blend… yeah, I definitely like! The mint is strong, it’s nice and creamy (vanilla maybe), and there’s a smooth hint of coconut in the background. This definitely reminds me of after dinner mints like Andes even though there’s no chocolate, the cream just adds a ton of depth. I do, however, wish the coconut was a wee bit stronger. I’m surprised they work at all though really, coconut and mint is something I never would have though of getting. I wonder who comes up with these ideas? What a fun job, coming up with tea flavors! Especially at DT, since they seem to have some really off the wall blends.

400th tasting note, baby!

I got this tea on my recently davidstea order, which was mostly teaware with some teas tossed in to hit the free shipping.

Hmmm. This tea is interesting. I like coconut and mint – however I got too much apple taste for my first infusion with mint being on the back burner. Second infusion was really good and what I was expecting the tea to taste like – creamy coconut + mint – YUM!

Okay so I think my taste buds must be way off for this tea because I tried it both plain and with milk and I am not tasting coconut or mint. What am I tasting then? Strange buttered popcorn. No lie. I don’t know what on Earth would give this tea that flavor. I smell the mint but all I am getting is sweet buttered popcorn and honestly I am not a fan. I might try this again but honestly I will probably just end up swapping this one out for something else. Thank you Janelle for sending some of this my way.

Awww. Too bad you’re not a fan. I really enjoyed this last year. I wonder where the popcorn comes from? Maybe the apples? Movie Night is popcorny and it’s mostly apple. Strange.

VariaTEA

I was definitely very confused when I tried it, especially because I mostly read about it in reviews for White Chocolate Frost. People kept mentioning that White Chocolate Frost was not as good as Cocomint Cream so I was expecting a creamy, minty drink.

Still pretty minty, but I am picking up something a little more mellow. Maybe that’s the coconut. I think I really need to get a bigger amount of this in the hopes that I get a more balanced blend of ingredients. I don’t actually think that I much (or any) coconut in my pouch, so I am willing to give more of this a try. It is helpful for upset tummies.

I was so excited to see a new tea with coconut in it! Coconut is my most favourite flavor in the world!!! I was on my way to my part-time job and I got an email to my phone that informed me the winter 2012 collection is out and as soon as I read about Cocomint Cream I decided then and there that I would go into the mall before work and try it out.
I am not a huge fan of minty teas but this one is perfect. It tastes kind of like a candy cane which makes it perfect for the holiday season. I bought a 100g tin of this tea the other day, and I like this tea so much that I think I am going to buy a yellow tin for it (: Definately my favourite herbal tea , this will be a staple on my shelf forever and ever. I think I am going to go brew a pot right now, I am about to start my very first university essay which happens to be due tomorrow (oops!), and I really need something to calm me down and get into the writing mood. Wish me luck!

Calla

I love this tea, when I first smelled it, it was like I was smelling Mint Chocolate chip ice cream. I need to go back to David’s and get a tin of this. Good luck on the essay by the way.

Drunk From Tea

I really like mint teas!

This one is really nice. I like how my cup of tea evolved during this tasting. At first taste while it was still piping hot, all I could taste was mint. But as the temperature cooled, it mellowed a lot – to the point where I could tell there was coconut. My cup ended with a creamy, minty finish – very nice for winter!

I’ll have no problem finishing this bag. :)
