After a wonderful evening with my in-laws (including a round of Cards Against Humanity I will never forget), I just wanted a nice, caffeine-free cuppa. This hit the spot beautifully. Creamy and minty, it put me in just the right mood for dreamland. I’m so glad I have a tin of this.

Do you still have some of this left? It was the Best tea ever…

Daddyselephant

Oh yes, I’ve about 3/4 of a tin left and I am hoarding it greedily LOL. My preciousssss.

TeaLady441

Simpson and Vail recreated thus blend btw! It’s called Jackie’s Cocomint or something like that.

Dustin

I haven’t tried the original, but the S&V version is pretty damn good!

Mmmmm tea

Thanks to Marcel Duchamp for sharing!

This blend did not disappoint! The apple adds a little bit of tartness, but it is smoothed out by the creamy coconut. I adore coconut, so wish it was a bit stronger. I taste more mint than coconut, but the two blend beautifully together to make an enjoyable tisane.

This tea first got me because of the smell. I was in the store and decided to smell the winter collection teas. And honestly this one stood out the most smell-wise. It smelled like mint chocolate chip ice cream, so I had to get a 25g bag just to try it for that reason alone. When I got around to tasting it this morning I enjoyed the aroma whilst it was steeping. Then I tried it and found it quite yummy. That minty flavour is not way overpowering which is good and it just felt like I was at the ice cream parlour choosing my mint chocolate chip. I may have to go get a tin of this soon!

I love mint. I was kind of confused about this tea but it smells right and I hope it taste as right too.I love all the ingredients but together ..wow we will see.

I’m really hoping for a tea slam-dunk my last 2 were not that worthy of taking up permanent residence in my tea cupboard and being restocked again and again.
I need a winner.

Once steeped the mint tones down a bit and this sweet coconut is holding it’s hand.I don’t smell apple but there is a light fruity kick that piggybacks the rest.it smells minty but sexy fresh but rich.

Okay so the taste is heavy on the mint and I definitely taste the cream.
It is a combination I’ve never tried before……hmm I’m not sure what to think I’m quite confounded..I find it hard to give you a worthy review so I think I’m going to rate it but go back to the drawing board and brew more..

So when I first heard of this tea, I was SO excited I had to tell my friend who is a huge coconut fan. COCONUT and MINT?! Weird combo but oh so interesting! When I got to smell the dry leaves at the store, I was actually disappointed. I’m not a mint fan and the mint smell was definitely there, somehow I was hoping it would be more coconutty. Anyways, that was probably 3 months ago when it first came out. On 12/12/12 (woohoo!) I went to a DAVIDsTEA with my friend who was celebrating her birthday and I treated her to a Red Velvet Cake latte (with a candle on top!). I also wanted to get myself a tea to go too. I thought out loud “Which tea would make a good soy latte?” The Tea Guide told me “Cocomint cream!” a little hesitant but also lazy to think of anything, I agreed to it.

IT WAS AMAZING.

So amazing that it convinced me to get myself a 100 gram tin the next time I dropped by a store.

I did brew it on it’s own as a straight tea and yes, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I did when it was a latte but it’s not bad.
The latte had a bit of agave added to it.

Something about the combination of the milk with the mint made it so creamy. Initial taste was almost similar to sipping into a mint ice cream but with a really pleasant coconut cream aftertaste.

I dislike strong mint teas, but this has sort of opened up some new doors for me.

Cocomint cream? High five to you, cocomint cream. YOU GO COCOMINT CREAM! (and a hi5 to you if you get my lame reference :P)

It IS good eh? I really should try it as a latte, especially since I have 100g of it too! (But I always need more caffeine-free options or I’ll be sipping at dessert blacks at 2am,and then… Y U NO sleep?)

juwelly

Funny you say that because I wrote this at 2am sipping on a caffeinated tea haha! and I totally agree with caffeine-free options, I’ve been branching out of my usuals and herbals/rooibos blends have been my bffs for night time cravings.

Cocomint cream happens to be caffeine free so yay for us!

Probably the most coconutty tea I’ve ever had. It almost feels like I’m drinking coco milk. The addition of mint creates a nice fresh feeling, both work really well together (who would have thought!). I’m happy they left this one so simple, because it shines just like that, without any complex flavour profile. I can easily see this as a dessert tea with the addition of a sweetener, but I’m glad they didn’t add any ingredient that would have made it such dessert tea (people can do that on their own!). It’s just so refreshing and comforting this way (I never, ever sweeten my teas). The apples probably add something to the flavour, but I don’t really taste them.

DT has been on fire lately! First Vanilla Orchid, then this… they are really hitting the spot with such simple yet delightful flavours, I’m impressed! Surely, this one is my favourite from the new winter collection (well, not counting Alpine Punch since it’s returning from last year…!).

I spent the entire day sorting through game sprites to figure out some of my next projects, the majority of that time was sorting through Terraria Sprites, that game has a TON of amazing sprites. I look forward to perlering some of those epic weapons and of course, goldfish. Now that Pu Erh week has ended it is time to go back to the eternal backlog of my notebook. This is a classic and I have no idea how it was skipped until now, classic page ten goodness.

Cocomint Cream by DAVIDsTEA is….no longer in stock, a seasonal tea I believe. It is an herbal tisane that blends Coconut, Peppermint, Apples, and Blackberry Leaves. I did a double take with this tea, I have never seen mint mixed with coconut…color me intrigued. The aroma is sweet, minty, and coconutty with mild notes of fresh foliage. There is a slight note of apple giving it a tangy edge. I keep sniffing this tea and leaning back, perplexed, the aromas are very good, but together they seem a bit odd.

After my aroma confusion settled and my curiosity got the best of me I steeped the tea, the leaves become much sweeter with the notes of mint, apple, and coconut becoming very strong. They mingle in a great pile of confusion that is not unpleasant. Underneath the dominant notes hides a delicate citrus note that is very much the shy friend in a group of extroverts. It smiles and waves and then does its own thing in the background. The aroma of the liquid is immensely sweet, like baked apples and rather heady coconut, the mint is a bit milder and that shy citrus note is still present.

The taste is a mix of mint, apples, and coconut, all very well balanced and blended and sweet. It is a sweet dance of confusion in my mouth, is this tea tropical or harvest themed, refreshing or calming? I just don’t know!! The mouth feel is a blend of smooth and tingly, which is my favorite thing about this tea. This tea is not bad but this particular blend of flavors clash too much for my liking. I very much so feel like my five year old self that would have freak out when my foods would touch each other on their plate, the flavors are too distinct and strong to make a suitable ‘me’ blend.

From the Winter Collection tea kit.
This is an ok tea. I do wish that it had a more dominant coconut flavor though. And it seems to have a weird after taste…kind of chemically.

So would I get this again? Probably not…the Mint Chilla Chai Nilla from The Spice and Tea Exchange suffices my occasional cravings for mint creaminess.

Yeaaahhhh! I knew I would love this tea. Got my big order in the mail today and this is the first one I tried. I love it. I used one of the agave sticks in it, coconut, and it was really sweet but it was delicious! I love the mix of coconut and mint. I love both of those! They go together perfectly in this tea :) a new favorite!

I really thought this was going to make a comeback in their winter or holiday collection this year. I was extremely disappointed to see that it didn’t. They came out with White Chocolate Frost instead, which is not half as good! I feel like this tea should be rated higher. This is my absolute favourite herbal blend I’ve ever had, and I’m not that big of a mint fan. If anyone has any of this to trade please let me know. I hope David’s comes back with this at some point so I can stock up!
