I was perfectly fine this morning, and then, in a split second, I felt like I was coming down with the plague. Fab.

This tea, however, is making me feel better and I certainly like that about it. The tartness seems to be coming through a vanilla veil. Mind you, at this point in my day when I’ve located all the kleenex and found my biggest thermal socks and all the fleece and flannel, my tastebuds are not that great.

I am glad I was able to get some this week while taking advantage of the free 50g after a 35 dollar purchase. That store is like crack, seriously.

I’ve managed to resist thus far. Cleaned out some of my tea cupboard as well this weekend/swap box. Hoping that next weekend i can re-organise and weigh things again :)

hope you feel better!

Evol Ving Ness

Well done, you! So impressive, so impressive.

Thank you, Sil. Things are slipping quickly here. Tastebuds almost completely gone now, so I imagine I will be staying with sour red teas until I feel the need to go to generic black with honey and shots of rum. I have a plan, you see.

“That store is like crack”—-so true. I went in to try a few new teas and redeem my points…almost $60 later… lol
I hope you feel better soon!

Redberry Tonic + Main Squeeze (1:2), iced.

It’s been another very trying week. One day I’ll be one of those people that loves their job and enjoys going to work. One day, but that day is not today.

I’m not super pumped about the weekend either. I’m gearing up to sell/trade/donate a lot of things that have accumulated in various “do something with this crap” piles over the past few weekends of spring cleaning.

Oh well, TGIF.

Evol Ving Ness

Yay you for the several sessions of spring cleaning. Now, THAT’s got to feel good.

It does feel good! :)

This is so fruity, I love it! It reminds me of a fruit roll-up. It’s absolutely great iced, and warm. Because it’s herbal, I can drink this whenever. It’s fool-proof (temp, steep time). I much prefer this to pink lemonade or pink flamingo. Definitely a re-purchase when I get through more tea in my stash.

Sipdown!

Hot, this tea reminds me of some Dutch gummies that are shaped like pink Cadillacs which I’ve never been able to find outside of the Netherlands. It’s kind of a tart berry flavour, like raspberry mixed with something else. Some family friends would always bring those candies when they came to visit so this tea takes me right back to my childhood. I’m sure I’ll get some more eventually.

Steeped this tea for about 5 min at about 96 degrees in my clear mug again so I could see the color and it’s a lovely red shade, it kind of reminds me of a slightly watered down cranberry juice n__n
I also find this tea to be a bit sweet on it’s own, so I don’t usually add any kind of sweetener to it.

Mmmmm, first sips after quite some time without my ‘magic elixir’ and it’s just as good… and sweet as I remember. It tastes almost like a warm, sweet and tangy cranberry punch with a kick of goji. Sounds a bit weird, but strangely addctive. It would be amazing iced. Which, now that I’m thinking about it, I’m wondering how on earth I didn’t think of it earlier. I mean, I’ve already gone through an entire 100g tin of it (with my husband’s help of course, this is also a favorite of his)
But, I’ll have to leave that for another time.

This is one of those rare blends that has a fair bit of hibiscus in it, but it actually works. The tartness fits well with the berry flavours.

I’ll probably never buy this for myself, but my sweetie likes it and I enjoy drinking it at their place.

After a stressful job interview, I stopped by David’s Tea for some herbal soothers. On tap today was Redberry Tonic and I filled up my iced mug. Definitely red in color, and very sweet with fruit flavors. There is tartness in the mild hibiscus and less mild rosehip flavors, but mainly this is strong flavors of apple, lemongrass, and what I guess is the buckthorn berry flavoring. Once again, this is sweet without any sugar. It was a satisfying flavor to drink iced, and a nice replacement for juice or soda. Warm, I bet this tea will hit the spot if you’re feeling tired or sick, the vitamin C and fresh fruit punch healing you at the core.

My cupboard is dominated by tins of black, green, and white, so I can be rather close-minded when it comes to herbal teas. So I was pleasantly surprised when a couple of friends presented me with a can of David’s Pineapple Daiquiri, containing Hot Tropic and Redberry Tonic for my birthday. I decided to forgo the instructions to mix the two together, and brewed the latter by itself.

Imagine my apprehension when after 5 minutes of steeping, the result was a deep shade of fuchsia that looked and smelled like prune juice. However, the taste was pleasantly tangy, without overbearing herbal notes. Given the weather, this will probably go down easier iced.

Bottom line: Herbal is still uncharted territories for me, and it may take awhile for me to become accustomed to the taste.

I say NAY to this tea. NAY! I guess lemongrass is just not for me in teas. It makes teas/tisanes taste like floor cleaner…oily floor cleaner. No thank you. But also thank you to Virginia for helping me discover this about my palate.

Cold brew of the day! Although I don’t taste any berries in here, but mostly apple and a zesty something, it’s very refreshing. There’s not much more to say…
