From DAVIDsTEA

If you ask us, the watermelon is king of summer. We know it’s a bold statement, but it’s true. No picnic, BBQ or pool party is complete without its juicy pink-and-green goodness. And this summer we’re giving you one more reason to think pink…a fresh and fruity melange of melon and apple, with a super-refreshing burst of peppermint. Try it on ice with a splash of vodka – it’s the ultimate summer thirst quencher. All hail the king! Limited edition.

This tea is surprising! It’s very much like Luscious watermelon (I don’t want to say exactly the same as I haven’t compared ingredients yet) with the addition of MINT!

I really didn’t know if I was going to love or hate this one. The flavour of mint can be so overpowering that you really have to be careful that it doesn’t take over everything. That’s why if you have a mint chocolate in with other chocolates, the other chocolates will take on the minty-ness. It can be so bad with certain mints that even if they are in different boxes but the boxes are on top of each other, you can still have problems. (I used to work at a chocolate company. It’s really unbelievable how much mint can travel.)

Anyways, here I am. I’m attempting this one. It’s only 50g that I bought, hoping that if I didn’t like it that it wouldn’t take too much to get through. Good news or bad new first… Good news is I LOVE IT! Bad news… I only bought 50g!! hahaha

I still have a completely full tin of luscious watermelon so I’ll work on drinking that up and I’ll start in on this one. I’ll have to stock up a bit as it’s just absolutely amazing.

When I first got into DAVIDs Tea in 2012, that summer they had a tea called Luscious Watermelon which I just LOVED. That tea has been discontinued, so when I saw that one of the summer collection’s teas was a watermelon one, I was so pumped, and this tea has not disappointed me! I love the taste of the melons with the hint of mint. It’s so refreshing and nice. I also love that this one doesn’t have any hibiscus in it to ruin it :). My one criticism is that you can kind of tell there is a bit of artificial flavouring..but it doesn’t bother me too much. I’m definitely picking up a few tins of this :D!

Had a sample of this warm. The “melon” part was weird warm, since melons are supposed to be cold. The “mint” part was very yummy (and I’m a sucker for any kind of mint tea). So I ordered a big cup of it iced to see how it would turn out cold. Would it just simply reverse for me?

Well…it did. The “melon” part (I still don’t get watermelon, but definitely honeydew melon. I get the COLOUR of watermelon but…that can be achieved with beets. So doesn’t count) was very good cold. Very fruity and refreshing. The “mint” part cold was…weird. It made my mouth taste like I should be chewing gum but I wasn’t. It was just strange. Not necessarily bad, but weird. I don’t know if I would try this again…I might if it was the tea of the day again.

Verdict: probably won’t buy since it’s “weird”, but definitely not bad. If you like melon and mint you’ll more than likely like this tea. But make sure you like cold mint flavour, because this is much better iced than it is hot.

I got this as an iced tea to go when I was at david’s today. I actually thought they were sampling it, but it turns out they weren’t. I was going to get a latte (of chocolate macaron), but their latte maker was broken so it is what it is and all that sort of thing. I must admit I was a bit skeptical: I thought that the tea would certainly be weak and watery, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

Cold, this tastes exactly as the description would lead you to believe: like watermelon and mint. You can absolutely taste both, and I thankfully couldn’t taste the carrot, although apparently there is some in this tea. Perhaps you can taste it hot, but certainly not when it’s iced. I ended up buying a sample pack to bring home, and will try it hot, but suspect I might actually just want it iced all summer. The combination of watermelon and fresh mint tastes so very refreshing.

I definitely recommend at least giving it a try.

I wanna try this one so bad!

I liked the smell of this one but thought that i wanted it for a warmer day. So maybe I will get some soon, but not now. Seems more promising than the Cool Cucumber one from spring.

keychange

It was quite delicious. Yes, I liked it far better than the cucumber one from the spring collection. I can’t quite imagine how it would taste hot, though I have some to play with and see.

Dry Leaf Nose: Watermelon and mint with watermelon as the prominent note.

Liquor: A light pink liquor, semi clear, with a definitive watermelon aroma and a hint of mint.

Flavour: A sweet watermelon character in the nose and cup with an accompanying minty character that adds depth to the liquor.

This tea was interesting. I made it iced, as all i had was a sample.

The tea steeps up a gorgeous watermelon pink!
Without sweetener, it was mostly peppermint with an underripe and flat melon flavor.

WIth sweetener – really really good! The melon flavors, mostly watermelon with some honeydew, is delicious! I’ll be buying more of this!

So I put about 4 teaspoons of this in a mason jar filled with water and put it in the fridge overnight. Usually, I steep it in boiling water and pour it over ice, but from now on, I will make it like this because it’s so much better. There’s a lot more natural sweetness, and the mint is less present. So refreshing! Bumping my rating
