From DAVIDsTEA

Just about every grandma has a secret recipe for special occasions. For David’s Bubbie, it’s baklava – studded with walnuts, almonds and pistachios and scented with honey and rose. And no family get-together is complete without it. This honey-scented oolong is an homage to that deliciously nutty treat. With candied fruit, nuts and spices, it’s rich enough to make any occasion feel special.

Price per 50g: $9.50

Using up the 2014 Christmas sampler. As others have said, this is more of an infusion than an oolong tea— mostly fruit and nuts. Once brewed, nuts, cinnamon, and a hint of rose definitely remind me of baklava. A stronger honey flavor and I think it would be spot on.

I stocked up on Santa’s Secret and for some reason Eggnog (what was I thinking?) from DT, and while this is enjoyable I can finish it off without regret.

I love this tea! So sad that it is discontinued. It’s really a good oolong tea.

It took me forever to get around to even trying this tea. I am neither a cardamom fan, nor a pistachio fan, but I do very much like candied fruit, almonds, and walnuts so, when I found a set on sale, I scooped up a small tin. Brewed up, the tea is definitely a nut based tea but surprisingly I actually really like it. I don’t think it is a tea I need to drink every day, but it is a nice evening oolong once in a while.

Wow I like this oolong!

I shouldn’t have steeped for 3 mins. I wish I had done a bit shorter, but it is amazing! And the tea leaves in this one are huge! I couldn’t believe it. They were full leaves. The taste of it is absolutely incredible.
This is very much a fruity tea. It’s very sweet but it is good. I get a lot of cinnamon and fruit to it. I think I’ll enjoy what I have left, but I’m not too sure if I would reorder. I have too many other teas that I love more.

Very nutty, it doesn’t tase a thing like baklava but it is quite pleasant nonetheless. I’d say it has more of an archetypal “christmas” flavour than anything. I really enjoy this tea however, especially on a cold morning when reading. Best served hot.

I will however say, that you do not get your moneys worth compared to other teas by DAVIDStea. I was a bit disgruntled when I opened the jar to find a bag of dried fruit and nuts, with very little tea.

Hot, this was ok. Not great, but ok. Some sips were better than others. I was hoping for more cakey/pastry flavour, which I got maybe a hint of. For the most part, instead I found something more like chai. But not in a pleasing way. All spice, no tea!
As the cup cooled, oh dear that was not cool. Not cool at all!
I’ve never been a fan of chicory, but I find that in some teas it does really well, and not so much in others. Well I guess this is the not so much? Ick. Dislike.

TeaBrat

how can they get away with making so many disgusting teas? ecch

Indigobloom

I dunno, I always wondered that myself TeaBrat. They seem to sell a lot of them, so someone has to be drinking it??? And the girl in the store told me this is “one of her favourites” (how, I don’t know!)

Delicate toasted nuttiness. Too much walnut can make for bitterness, but this blend has just the right amount. Sweet enough to warrant it’s namesake with a long finish of cinnamon at the end. It’s a very enjoyable tea, brews up a nice like golden color. I’d buy it again. I got about 25g in the 2014-15 Winter Collection.
