Cold Brew!

Made this one up over the weekend because I was considering it as a tea for a Geek Steep episode, but in the end I ended up choosing something different so I just got to enjoy this brew afterwards on its own. It was more strawberry than I remembered it tasting last time I had it, but in all fairness this was never a tea that I drank regularly and so my memory of it is all over the place.

Sweet, bright, tart and punchy with strawberry and lemon notes winning the cup and a very sticky, lingering sweetness in the finish. It’s refreshing, and nice – but not something I’d ever drink frequently.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

Oh my goodness! This tea is so amazing. I don’t usually like mate teas, but this was out of this world. It was lemony and so delicious. I had some sweetener added to it and it made it nice and sweet and so good. LOVED IT!

I don’t give out 100 ratings very often, and I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve ever given one to a maté. I LOVE this tea. I’ve had it both hot and iced and it is freaking delicious . I’ve got a tin at home and at work, and my only downfall will be forgetting that this is a stimulant and drinking it at night, therefore causing me not to sleep, haha. DT, NEVER discontinue this one!

let me begin by saying that i pretty much hate mate. I thought i’d try this though because i Do like lemonade. I tried this one as a cold brew and it’s not half bad. I’m not sure if the long brewing process helped smooth out the mate or what, but this was highly unexpected and one of the reasons i still try things i don’t like – both in tea and in “food.” it’s not really lemony to me – mostly strawberry like and something i can’t place. But as a cold brew with a little sweetner, not half bad.

I didn’t get much strawberry out of this, but I was surprised by how much I liked it. Not a big mate person.

I picked up the Electric Lemonade which is the Tea of the Month for July 2015. It is pretty good! I think I like it better than the Pink Lemonade. I am definitely a person who prefers sweet to tart and, as a I recall, the Pink Lemonade was more tart than this. I made a bunch of the Electric Lemonade over the weekend as an iced tea and it is a great tea when there are hot temperatures out there. Very refreshing! It will not be one of my absolute favourites, but it makes a decent iced tea.

Backlog from yesterday.

I’m not normally a maté person, but I was picking up a bunch of iced tea pitcher packs from David’s yesterday, and I have to admit that I was very tempted by the lemon punch of this.

Got this iced to-go with some agave nectar, and it was pretty nice! The maté really works well with the lemon and the sweetness blended with the agave nectar. I may get some more of this to play with over the summer.

This is pretty good. A strong, sweet, slightly tangy lemon note with a follow up from the berries. Little bit of a “green” taste from the mate as well. I doubt I’d buy it again, as mate isn’t really my thing, but it was tasty.

Dry Leaf Nose: Tangy lemon and ripe summer berries. Like a wonderful lemonade stand.

Liquor: Smells like sweet lemons with a splash of ripe strawberry. Deep orange yellow color.

Flavour notes: Lemonade flavors are very forward, and the fresh berry notes add sweetness in both the body and the finish. Not tart lemon or lemon zest.
