From DAVIDsTEA

Baby, it’s cold outside

Got a blizzard on the way? Score! There’s no better excuse to cozy up inside with a great cup of tea. And this all natural chocolate-mint tisane is the perfect way to warm up on a chilly winter day. With peppermint, cacao nibs and dark chocolate drops, it’s sweet, creamy and oh-so comforting. The best part? Cute little snowflake-shaped sprinkles that add a touch of sweetness. Bring it on, winter!

Price per 50g: $7.98

This is one of my favorite teas from the Winter 2015 collection, and it seems like I may be one of the only few people here that actually like it.

It does seem to come along as a cousin/love-child of White Chocolate Frost from years ago.
The peppermint is a little stronger than WCF, which I don’t mind and there is a slight chocolatey taste.

Plus, there is the adorable little snowflake pieces. I liked this enough to get a full tin of it and I may get some more before its gone.

This tea for me is very interesting. If I use too many leaves and oversteep it, it becomes very sweet and I don’t really like it like that. The smell is very strong as both of my parents say, and I notice. As for the taste when I brew it to my liking, the peppermint is definitely my favorite part and the chocolate and sugar/milk taste are more in the background creating a hint of sweetness without being overbearing. However, it’s not my favorite and I’d probably wouldn’t buy it again.

This tea was weird. I both do and don’t like it. I love peppermint, but the peppermint in this tea was just odd. I had it one day at work and had to dump it because everyone thought it smelled like cheap industrial cleaner.

Backlogged; did not care for this tea. I enjoy chocolate mint usually, but there was too much peppermint leaf in here, and I’m not fond of that.

And tonight I’m having some of this. I seem to have quite a lot of it still, which is a bit mystifying. I thought I was drinking this faster!
I can’t quite put my finger on what’s lacking here, but something is. All the parts are there to be quite magnificent, but its just not coming together. Hmm.

Hot cuppa from earlier this week…

Don’t get me wrong, I am still heavily in Halloween inspired tea mode – but with the first big holiday/winter collection of the year launching at DT this week I’ve also had some of these more wintery and seasonal blends top of mind.

Snow Day is one of those teas I have a sort of love hate relationship with. It’s just so incredibly intense and overwhelmingly sweet on top of having one of the coolest (literally) minty notes of any of the DT blends. Like, it’s mint chocolate dialed up to an eleven out of ten. I feel like I have a cup or two of it every year that I enjoy but then it just gets to be super overwhelming to me.

Yes, small doses. Small doses are key.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

Chocolate and peppermint…in a tea?! This sounds more like a coffee delight. The aroma of this tea is intoxicating, but I was hoping for a bit more peppermint. The balance of chocolate and peppermint is good; just my personal preference that I would want a stronger mint flavor.

Why, oh why do I find this tea so comforting? I just do. It’s my go-to after a long day, even if the “long” consisted of walking along Commercial Drive, eating raw Nanaimo bars, drinking tea in a lovely shop, writing, using the sauna, visiting friends, and then more visiting friends. The perfect slacker/awesome day.

hi :)

I’m gonna attempt making a comeback haha. This is one of the samples from when I bought the 24 days of tea, which I will start tonight since I didn’t realize what day it was until I was at work.

This smells horrendously artificial when you open it. I think the DT page said its naturally flavored….uhh. Hopefully I misread.

I came back to my desk and my coworker was sure I had hot chocolate from how strongly flavored this stuff is.

Tast wise, it’s not as bad as its scent. But isn’t anywhere near as chocolate flavored. It’s kind of like an after taste. It’s mainly mint, just sweeter than normal thanks to the snowflake sprinkles. I like that chocolate end note though, but the sweetness is kind of weird before you taste the chocolate.

It’s good, but I wouldn’t buy it. At least I assume I get to have it one more time.

What have I missed?! I am going to St Louis on a hockey adventure next week and I’m way too excited. Hopefully I have a decent way to have my calendar teas!

Welcome back. I just came back, too!

Really disappointed. This tea sounded so good in theory. But the reality is that it’s over-fragranced and over-flavored. Normally the combo of peppermint and chocolate is wonderful but this has a weird, chemical, artificial aftertaste to it that rendered it undrinkable for me.
