From DAVIDsTEA

What’s leafy green and was Medieval Europe’s most popular veggie? Only our favourite vegetable ever: kale. This crispy cabbage is no new kid on the block. It’s been grown around the globe for over 2,000 years. And when you mix this ancient powerhouse with energizing stone-ground matcha green tea, you get a benefit-packed tonic that’s vibrant, fresh and delightfully creamy. Add a shot to your next green juice or smoothie for a nutritional lift and caffeine kick. One sip and you’ll be unstoppable.

Ingredients: Green tea and kale powder.

Price: $19.98 per 50g

Welp,

I bussed into the store today both to pick up some of the new Matcha Genmaicha since it’s the only tea in this new collection that I haven’t tried yet and to meet up with my ASM Everett since we had planned to do something today after he got off work.

Turns out, our store hasn’t received our shipment of the Matcha Genmaicha yet so I had to get something else instead. While it was super tempting to just order a Genmaicha with some Ceremonial Matcha mixed into it, I settled for a Kale Matcha shot because I wanted to see if my theory that they’d work well for a shot was correct or not.

Final verdict? I liked it! Actually, I think I enjoyed the overall flavour of the kale matcha shot more than I do that of a Ceremonial Matcha shot. Even though you’d think it’d be more bitter because of the kale powder, it didn’t really seem that way to me. Still has a weird mouthfeel from the kale, though.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
