I got this tea in my first swap with Dexter. I have so many tea’s from Dexter that I need to get to…This, however, is a quick and easy sipdown.

The flavour has faded somewhat, but I’m still getting some of the cappuccino notes. The caramel crunch flavour is not apparent, but that’s probably because I’ve had the sample for quite a while. I remember getting all of the flavours the first time I tried it.

Anyway, I enjoyed it while I had it, but moving on. Thanks for the sample Dex!

I do not get teas that want to taste like coffee! This was okay but left some meh after taste. The caramel wasn’t very pronounced to me either. I am a huge fan of flavored rooibos! This one just wasn’t for me so much.

I’ve had this little sample since forever and am just now trying it. I’m not crazy about coffee. I used to always think my mom’s cappuccino’s smelled SO good when I was little and would beg for a sip, and then was always disappointed. It’s like the way that vanilla extract smells . . . and then you taste it, ha! But I tried to keep an open mind about this one, because the dry leaves do smell very yummily of sweet caramel. The cup itself has more of a cappuccino aroma, but I can also detect a little of the rooibos. The flavor is nice enough. I can taste the rooibos up front, and there’s a caramel finish. The aftertaste is lightly sweet and strongly of rooibos. I wish the rooibos flavor was a little less intense and I would probably like this one a whole lot more. I’m saving the rest of this sample for my fiancee, who loves cappuccinos and coffee and doesn’t despise rooibos nearly as much as me. :) Thank you, KittyLovesTea for this sample!

-Dry blend has red rooibos with long yellow petals and pieces of flavoring.
-Dry leaves smell lightly of sweet caramel. Tea liquor aroma is of cappuccino with a faint hint of rooibos.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium reddish orange color.
-Soft rooibos flavor with a caramel finish. Lightly sweet and strong rooibos aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Fair tea. Sweet caramel flavor. Strong rooibos aftertaste.

I understand completely about the smell of vanilla extract and coffee. It always smells much better than it tastes!

Same here re:coffee. The only “coffee” I ever liked were those International Foods tins of powdered “cappuccino” mixes (especially the “french vanilla cafe”!)

Josie Jade

Oh, I used to do the French Vanilla Cafe cappuccino mixes, too. I think it was just powdered sugar, probably!

Great Canadian Travelling Tea Box

I’m actually a bit let down with this one. Given it is Della Terra and a rooibos which they tend to do so well, I’m not getting a real coffee or cappuccino flavor. I’m mostly getting caramel plus rooibos. Not bad, but it doesn’t really invoke the name all that much. Happy to try this one but I’m glad to send it on and I don’t think I would add it on to a future order either.

From the GCTTB. I’ve glanced at the description for this one on Della Terra’s site but probably wouldn’t have ordered a sample for myself since the “crunch” bit kinda threw me for a loop. I enjoy the occasional caramel latte though so it was interesting to me none the less.

Dry the tea definitely smelled like a rooibos, mixed with a number of really sweet notes and a few caramel undertones. I also got a number of floral scents from the marigold blossoms, which didn’t really make a whole lot of sense to me. I found the scent profile to be a bit lopsided and no real trace of the “cappuccino” notes either.

The steeped liquor is a very dark red-brown and smelled of sweet subtle caramel notes. At this point I finally start to get some of the darker cappuccino scents mixed in what the slightly mellowed floral notes from the marigold. The first sip was a bit of a shock though, really really dark (and somewhat bitter) coffee notes hit me right up front. I don’t mind dark coffee but this was a bit too dark for me, and it totally covered up the caramel flavors. There was a touch of sweetness present but not much else, I also didn’t get any of the usual rooibos creaminess in the mouth feel which was disappointing.

I added a bit of vanilla sugar and cream and that did help to even out the flavor profile, it actually started to taste a bit like a thin caramel latte to me, I bet if you brewed this as a tea latte it would be pretty good, but I don’t typically keep milk products at home, so for me it’s not one that I would keep on hand. I also still don’t get the whole crunch thing but maybe that’s just me. :)

Eh, it is a bit too rooibos-y for me, and I could really only discern a sweetness, but necessarily from caramel. I’m glad I tried this sample, which came from CrowKettle but I’ll probably pass it on to someone who likes rooibos more.

This blend sounded obscure and while I am not a fan of coffee or it’s forms (cappuccino, latte etc) I just had to try it.

Opening the packet all I could smell was rooibos and nothing more, all I could see was rooibos with yellow petals and a few small chunks of what looked like fudge.

5 minutes later once steeped the tea has certainly picked up some sweet caramel scent with a touch of vanilla.

Alright a few mouthfuls in and I can conclude a few things.

1 – Does it taste like cappuccino? No
2 – What does it taste like? Rooibos with a little vanilla and sweetener. The rooibos tastes somewhat toasted.

I feel it would be more befitting to be called Rooibos Caramel Crunch as personally that is what it tastes more of. Reading other reviews people say they can taste and smell cappuccino or something coffee like so maybe it’s just me but I can’t detect anything like that. Perhaps it varies cup to cup? For me it’s just a bit too rooibos heavy to make it enjoyable but it is drinkable.

Overall I am disappointed.

At first, it does smell like cappuccino. The flavour is more like caramel than anything coffee. While I do like caramel rooibos, I was hoping that it was a little more like coffee.

This is one of the teas I grabbed out of the Great Canadian TTB and I am so glad I did because it is a tasty caffeine-free option. The rooibos is virtually non-detectable leaving room for the caramel to shine through. However, this stops itself from becoming too sweet and having a monotonous flavor by complimenting the caramel with a hint of coffee deliciousness. Thank you Jeweled Thumb for including it as it is something I have wanted to try for a while now.
