Della Terra Teas has yet to disappoint me. I was beyond ecstatic when I heard they were launching a S’mores flavor tea.

Steep time was right around 2 minutes.

This wasn’t as heavily scented as the other dessert teas from DTT that I have, so I was somewhat concerned that it would not be as flavorful. Not at all the case! This tea starts out with a deep smokey black flavor that was almost a bit startling at first. Next comes the sweet chocolate hues and then creamy marshmallow notes. There is a subtle spice and the full s’mores flavor really forms on the palate after a few sips. Delicious!

I really should try this and add a bit of milk as well as I feel that would drastically bring out some of the flavors. (Being lactose intolerant I never take the time to add milk since I always forget my meds. Lazy me!)

Another lovely dessert tea.

Sipdown/backlog: finished this up this morning on my way to the doctor. I over milked this one today, but it is actually really good. It’s more chocolate and sweet than anything else, but there is a bit of the graham cracker there.

If I do a DT order sometime, I’d probably get a small bag of this.

It is rich and hearty, and great on a cold day like today.

I couldn’t resist the recent Della Terra sale and purchased 2 of the try me packs (including a sample of S’mores). I used 2 heaping teaspoons, plus about a half of a 3rd for my 16oz steeping mug and added sweetener and a dash of skim milk.

I mostly get the marshmallow from this tea, which isn’t a bad thing. There’s a bit of graham cracker but I’m not really detecting any chocolate. I think next time I’ll follow the recommendations a little more closely.

Not sure that I’d keep this around but I’ll finish the sample.

Well, I just got an order of samples from Della Terra. After splitting them up with my mother, I decided to try out the S’mores.

I hate to be the one to say this, as it has such good reviews here, but it does not live up to its name at all. Unless you are imagining sitting around a campfire, making S’mores, when suddenly, a swamp monster from near by snatches it, spits it out, and leaves it all soggy floating in the water. Ok, ok, so the description makes it sound terrible. It’s not terrible, I mean, I like it OK enough. I might even drink another cup some time. But it really is kinda like soggy-swamp-water graham cracker with a hint, just a hint, of curdled marshmallow. But I can dig it if my mood is right.

I received some of this in a Mystery Swap from Eva. Thank you for sharing some of your new tea with me!!!

When this finished steeping I put my nose to the cup and definitely smelled the marsh mellow. For my first sip that is exactly what I got. Marsh mellow sweet. I am missing the chocolate and gram taste that I was hoping for. I am hoping a little bit of sugar makes these flavors pop. The base of this tea is very faint in the background. I would like it to be a bit stronger. Overall a nice treat. Thank you!

EDIT: I tried this again this afternoon. I added sugar and it helped bring out some more of the flavors in this tea. It was a nice afternoon treat. Upping my rating a bit.

This is just ok. I taste chocolate, it’s like several other Della Terra chocolate teas, I’m not sure I could tell some of them apart. I’m not getting the S’mores part of this, maybe a hint of some sweetness that might be marshmallow, but certainly not graham or smoky. Ehhhh, like I said just ok.

Thanks JackieT for the sample.

Another from Queen of Tarts:)

Argh. My 1st tea from Della Terra and can’t say I care for it. It’s not terrible, and I’ll most definitely drink it again, (Though might hold off til Fall.)
I do love S’mores, though it’s been years since I’ve had them. In the cup, the only tastes I’ve gotten is marshmellow. and the black tea base.
You know, with the exception of the Orange Creamsicle rooibos tea, I don’t think there has been a dessert type tea that I’ve liked.

Oooh this tea is really good. I am loving the marshmallow flavor! I wish the chocolate and graham notes were stronger but overall this is excellent!

The first thing I feel about drinking this tea is guilt. The very act of swallowing makes me a bad vegetarian, but I just can’t help it! I ordered it without thinking of the marshmallow part and now it’s here and I want to try it, it’s rated so highly!

And now with that over with, I am in fact drinking this tea and it does taste very good. The black base is very present and I wish it was a milder base for the flavours to come out, what is here is okay. I can taste the chocolate in the aftertaste but not so much in the initial swallow but what is really present is the marshmallows! There’s a bit of cinnamon-y strangeness too that I think is the graham crackers but I haven’t had graham crackers that weren’t chocolate flavoured in such a long time that it’s hard for me to tell. And I haven’t had s’mores in years, though a friend of mine and I used to make them in his living room with his fireplace going. That was a lot of fun. Ah, memories.

Together, this tea does taste a lot like what I remember s’mores to taste like, though not quite as sugary as the original but close. This is a very good tea, but my guilt will prevent me from ordering it again, or probably even drinking the rest of my sample.
