DIY Fava Advent Calendar 2025 – Day 23

I am very surprised by how much I’m enjoying this cup. I’m not generally big on almond teas (and pistachio is usually the same), but this is mellow enough and actually has a buttery, nutty pistachio type flavor to it, in addition to the almond extract note. Smooth and light, with just enough flavoring to be the star without being overpowering. It tastes like a light butter cookie with almond extract and pistachios! I’m not sure how often I would reach for this, but I would actually consider ordering some. Hmm…

I received a free sample of this blend with my recent purchase at Fava and was excited to discover that it’s a dead ringer for TeaSource’s Pistachio Shortbread, which has unfortunately been out of stock for months. Like that one, this blend tastes more of marzipan than pistachio, but it has a nice buttery smoothness that definitely reminds me of shortbread. A lovely dessert-like treat!

Yum! I’ve always wanted to do an order from Fava and it all started from a Pumpkin tea I had many years ago. I’ll have to add this one to my wishlist.

Inkling

This is my local tea shop and I definitely recommend them! While there have been a few misses here and there, almost everything I’ve ever tried from them has been delicious, high quality, and reasonably priced.

Another SipsBy offering for the month of January. I was surprised to see another pistachio tea from Fava in my box so soon, but I love pistachio, so can’t complain. This tea has loads of ingredients that I love (marzipan drops and almonds in particular), but there was just something off about this blend. It’s not nearly as bad as the other Fava pistachio blend that I tried, but I’m still not loving it. It’s missing that marzipan favor, and is instead reading as a bag of mixed nuts.

What I smell: marzipan (strong)

What I taste: pistachio butter

Notes: This tea reminds me of the almond-paste-filled Danish Kringle pastry that’s occasionally available at Trader Joe’s. Fairly light, but in a pleasant way. Might try steeping a minute longer next time. Found via Sips by subscription box.

Hands down my favorite tea. Smells like marzipan. Light and a tiny bit sweet. Doesn’t need milk or sugar, but holds either nicely.
Enjoyable any time of day
