Gifted to me by the ever lovely SuperStarling!, this tea’s first scent reminds me of chocolate covered orange candies. Which I happen to love. I didn’t realize that they aren’t actually everyone’s favorite.

My mom introduced them to me when I was a kid because she loved them. I also took to them. I just kind of assumed that they were a decadent thing that most everyone enjoyed. Then I met my wife and was so excited when during the first few months of dating, we passed by a specialty chocolate store and they had those chocolate covered orange candies. I proudly passed one to her, took my own bite while momentarily closing my eyes to indulge. I slowly turned to her while opening my eyes, expecting to share that common look of “OMG this is amazing.” Instead, she was recoiling in disgust. To this day, it is one of her only flaws. Haha.

But back to the tea! So the dry leaf reminds me of that smell. I assumed that is what this was supposed to emulate. Chocolate orange. Imagine my surprise upon reading the description that says, “No, no orange.” No one else has even tagged it with that? Hmm. I brew the tea up and yup, still getting that familiar scent. Now that I see it is supposed to be chocolate and hazelnut, I can kind of get the hazelnut with it and perhaps that is what I am confusing with the chocolate orange scent.

Flavor wise, the hazelnut DOES reveal itself more than orange. I still get some orange because of the scent in my nose but I don’t think I would confuse the flavor with it.

Overall though, this tea is REALLY indulgent and delicious. A nice dessert tea. This may be something I consider ordering.

This tea is super-complex for something so simple. It’s just a chocolate-hazelnut black tea. But there’s a variety of other notes. A creamy note, a mossy note, a molasses note. And, of course, the hot-chocolate almond-hazelnut tastiness.

This reminds me of Disney World. Did you know that, underneath the Happiest Place On Earth, there is a labyrinth that the staff use to get from place to place? It’s why you don’t see them traipsing around in between shifts. Or why Mickey appears in one spot, them shows up later in another. You’ve got all that joy on top, and then a bunch of solid inner workings underneath to make sure it functions properly.

You should try Paris!

Super Starling!

@Mookit: I think I have a flavor of that! I bought a bunch of samples last week that I’m going to try soon. I can’t remember exactly the ones I ordered. They all have city names and I find that slightly confusing.

I DID know that but only because I love Disney World. Maybe not as much as Maggie does. But close. We are going in October during Halloween. We went for my birthday 2 years ago.

This is a lovely black tea with a lovely dark color and pleasant flavor. I probably wouldn’t have been able to figure out that it was chocolate hazelnut flavor if I hadn’t read the product description, but I’m not very good at identifying and comparing smells/tastes so maybe it’s just me. And it definitely did have a sophisticated nutty aspect to it. After tasting it straight, I put milk and sugar in it because I’m hungry and that’s what I do when I’m hungry for some reason. The milk and sugar really enhanced the flavor, I think, instead of obscuring or muddying it. Anyway, I’m really enjoying it and I might even consider buying some for a repeat experience because the sample I have (BTW, thanks for the sample, JK7ray!) turned out to be enough for just one enormous mug/small-to-medium-sized pot. (Hopefully it’ll re-steep well, too. I feel kind of irresponsible for writing my reviews while I’m drinking the tea rather than after I’ve tried re-steeping, but I’m afraid I’ll forget how the tea tasted if I wait.)

The perfect dessert tea for me. Chocolate and hazelnut and no calories. I couldn’t be happier. A cheap alternative to this would definitely be Twinings – The de Ceylan (Scotland.) I think it may be discontinued but if you can’t get your hands on the beautiful Florence, try the Twinings version, which is basically also a chocolately hazelnut. And it’s less expensive. :D I have a 4 oz. tin of this and I doubt this will be sitting in my tea cupboard for very long. I’m officially in love with Harney teas!

Received this from Nicole and it is very tasty! I’ve tried Harney and Sons Green Coconut tea so, this is my second tea from this line. I’m usually not fan of black teas due to the strong punch it gives, but this was not strong at all! I would consider this a dessert tea, and have been sipping this often after dinner.

I love the aroma when steeping and the subtle nutty chocolate taste. I’m sure this tea would taste great with breakfast as well.

Anyone else here want to try this with Frangelico? As tempted as I am I also kinda think Frangelico would just overpower the tea. The tea itself is not amazing but itvreally does have a nice after taste. Almost kinda reminds me of chocolate silk pie. Actually I’m uping my rating. I’m amazed at how well the base blends. Pretty sure it’s a woodsy base but it’s hard to tell. The main flavor though I don’t find to be anything special. It’s thw after taste that I’m really loving.

I’m trying to like this, but I keep going back and forth about how I feel about this cup. Some sips seem really boring and others seems like they have the potential to be interesting. The flavors are a little artificial at times and that is distracting. I can sometimes get a malty undertone that is nice, but a slight tingly sensation in the back of my throat that I associate with artificial flavoring pulls me away from the nice malt. The finish starts out a little flat and then drifts off into something more pleasant. A mixture of nuts and a light hint of chocolate. Is it the Harney chocolate flavor that is ruining another of their blends for me again? It really makes me want a cup of a Theodor hazelnut blend who’s name escapes me now.
I’m sorry Florence, but I really don’t have time for this back and forth kind of relationship. Off to the reject bin you go. Go on with you.

Had this tea last night. Thanks to Dex for sending this in a swap!

The dry leaf smelled like rich dark chocolate with a hint of something deeper behind it. Almost like chocolate mousse. The liquor was also very chocolaty, but as it cooled, the hazelnut note came to the fore.

I was hoping for more of a rich nutella flavour from this, but I think I was a bit shy on the steep. I steeped it for 3.5 minutes in freshly boiled water, but I think I should have gone for 4 minutes. Luckily, I have more than enough left to try again.
