From Harney & Sons

In the heat of the summer the Harneys descended on the famously scenic island off the coast of Italy, the Isola di Capri. There the steep slopes are covered with both fig and lemon trees. It was in admiration of these fruit, that we conceived of this blend. Drink this tea and you are transported to one of the most romantic places on earth.

I tried this last night and it was actually my first experience drinking H&S! The quality is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I think it is similar to Paris, just a tad bit fruitier. Went great with my slice of German chocolate cake! I would recommend giving it a try. I may purchase again in the future but plan on trying other Harney & Sons teas before re-purchaing any of the teas I just received in my order.

Got a sample of this from my mom and tried it this morning. Very sweet fig flavor. It’s pretty good. There’s a little lemon too. Only disappointment was the base tea didn’t really bring anything to the party. Still a nice flavored tea for those who like fig.

This sample came from dort. While it is not what I expected, it’s still quite tasty. I expected more fig flavor, but I think a lemony-vanilla flavor is taking center stage here. Perhaps if I’d have sweetened it, I might have been able to coax out more of the fig flavor. I’ll try that next time. This is one I’d pick up if Harney & Sons was offering a discount.

The fig smell is strong, with a hint of vanilla, but I don’t really smell lemon at all. Buying a fig flavored tea was a streach for me since I’m not a big fan of actual fans (the texture throws me off). I added a bit of sugar to mine to bring out the figgy sweetness and it is wonderful. I find that with a little bit of sugar I can taste the vanilla more strongly. As for the base of the tea it is wonderfully strong without being bitter, which I find to be a similarity across the flavored h&s teas.

Thank you SO MUCH Boychik for sending me a sample of this one! I REALLY wanted to try it! Fig and lemon on Harney’s black tea base just sounded delightful. However, I’m not sure if this is the base they would usually use. Or maybe my taste is changing… it seems to have a bit of that cardboard flavor that I notice in other black teas. I hope I don’t notice them in the other blends now. There is a sweetness and fruitiness to the tea but I’m not sure I’d actually call it fig. The lemon is missing for me too. The magic I expected just isn’t here, as I love Harney’s Paris and Tower of London which I’d rather reach for. Of course I’m happy to have tried this one!

Its not bad, just not my style anymore. It was last and I’m not going to restock. You have to check if you still like Paris and Tower of London. I don’t anymore.

tea-sipper

Well, the Ovation tea I’m drinking right now tastes like Paris because they were both stored in thin bags in a metallic pouch. It’s tasty so I guess I still like Paris. lol :D

Miss Marzipan was sweet enough to send me a sample of this once after she ordered a tin during their free shipping sale. Thanks Marz! :) Visually, it’s generic black tea leaves with itty bitty chunks of something, which I assume is fig? A couple of them look like they could be citrus peel, so maybe it’s both. Dry scent is delicious strong and sweet fig with vanilla – I don’t really smell lemon here. I did a 4 minute steep at 200 degrees.

Mm, the brewed aroma is also strong figs (which to me, includes a honey scent) with sweet and woody vanilla and a touch of lemon. To be totally, I’m a little bit disappointed by the level of flavor here, I could have used a little bit more. I can taste all three flavors, which is nice, but I was hoping for more fig. I added a teaspoon of honey to mine, because I feel like honey and fig is a natural combination, and it did help to bring out the flavor a little more. I actually really like the lemon here, it adds a nice top note and really freshens the whole thing up. Something in the base tea tastes a little odd to me, almost mineral? Maybe I should have stopped at a 3 minute steep. Luckily, Marz sent me enough of this to try it a few times! :)

I would definitely like to try this someday!

Veronica

Sounds nice!

Lariel of Lórien

It reminds me of scones. Even though fig is an odd flavour.

Marzipan

I thought it was a little light on flavor too.

mj

Because of this tasting note, I bought figs at the store today. I couldn’t stop thinking about them!

TeaBrat

I had some figs for breakfast today…. :))

Marzipan

I have never had an actual fig. Just Fig Newtons!

Lariel of Lórien

Try the mission figs.

mj

I got Turkish brown figs and caramelized them in honey. Noms

Cameron B.

I’ve never had a fresh fig, but the dried ones are delicious. :)

Ost

This tea has always perked my interest…but we have a fig tree in our front yard…and as often as I’ve tried it over the years, I cannot get myself to be a fig fan. Think it’s mainly the texture that puts me off…Wasn’t a bad taste though, someday I’ll have to get this tea. xD

boychik

I love fresh figs but they are expensive. Brown are the best. Don’t really like green ones. Dried ones are good substitute in winter. If I had a nice backyard I would plant my own.

I received a sample of this from the wonderful TheTeaFairy. Thank you so much.

This is just weird to me. Fig, vanilla, lemon, black tea. Not sure what it is that I don’t like, maybe the lemon – or maybe it’s just the combination of flavors.
Whatever it is – this doesn’t work for me.
Sorry Fairy, I know you like this one.

boychik

I liked that one too. But I think not enough fig for me;). You should drink it chilled

Cameron B.

I love fig and vanilla, but I’m not sure about the lemon… You’re right, it is a weird combination. I’ll definitely have to try this one sometime, though. :)

I don’t know how much I’m going to be posting lately. Over the weekend my boyfriend and I broke up. We’d been together for six years.
Its a no-fault break-up. We still love each other, we still love being with one another. But our lives do not seem to be going in the same direction, and we needed to go apart and think about the future.
It doesn’t feel real. I feel blank, and am having trouble eating.
I’m working on being super nice to myself. Thats where some of this tea comes in.
Nothing too bold or daring right now. I’m just going to have nice teas for a while.
I hope you don’t mind if I’m not writing too much right now. But I will be reading. This is such a nice place to be.

Roswell Strange

Really sorry to hear that Rosehips. Just remember we’re all here, for whatever you need.

gmathis

Change is hard. Praying for you today.

tea-sipper

I’m sorry!

Evol Ving Ness

These things are terribly hard. Big hugs to you, Rosehips. I hope the transition is kind to you. You will come through this. Remember that.

CelticBrew

Sorry to hear that. Being super nice to yourself is the best thing you can do! Cozy and comforting teas, relaxing baths and nice home-spa products helped a lot with mine.

Maddy Barone

Oh, no. I’m so sorry.

Fjellrev

Oh Rosehips, I Am so sorry to hear that. :(

ashmanra

Hugs to you! You know if you need someone to talk to, there are lots of kind hearts here. Sometimes amazing things come out of a hard place and we look back and see that one required the other. Thinking of you this evening.

thanks for sending this one my way boychik i had a first cup of this a while back but forgot to log it or track it. so today i figured it was time to finish it off and write a proper note. Funnily enough, i get a bunch of fig taste of this one, but not much lemon like others have gotten. what i do like about this, is how the base blends with the fig. It’s a rather tasty tea and was nice alongside of my banana bread :) thanks boychik!

I really like the scent of this. The lemon and fig makes me think of scones. Not sure if I’ve ever had a scone like that, but there should be one (even if I make it myself). Lemon comes out more in the flavour, but it is a cup of fruity goodness.

Thanks for the sample, boychik
