From Harney & Sons

Caffeine-free mint with Lemon Verbena, a combination of two favorites. Lemon Verbena is a full-bodied herbal, and of course mint is known for its ability to calm a temperamental stomach. An invigorationg new herbal.

Also available in wrapped sachets – Each sachet brews a 12oz cup of tea.

I quite like this. I got it as a sample when I ordered back in November and it was really the only one they sent me that I felt I’d even drink.

Feeling blah means this combination sounded most excellent tonight.

It’s nothing remarkable, it’s mint and lemon verbena. It mostly tastes like mint though, there’s maybe a little bitter/tart taste of lemon to it, but hardly.

I’d rather have just plain mint tea. But it was nice to try for something slightly different.

Ohhh I have exciting Black Bear Laboratory news, I am going to start on solid perfumes too. It just seemed it was finally time while I was ordering all the oils/butters and such for more. I can’t believe how many lip balms I made off 1 lb of wax.

Cool! My Sammie dog loves my Pumpkin Chai lip balm I bought from you. He tries to lick my lips!

Mercuryhime

oooo, solid perfumes sound fun! I gave some tubes of lip balm to my friends who now want to eat all they flavors you sell.

Josie Jade

Oh I love lip balms! Where do you sell yours at?

Josie Jade

Thanks for the link, I’ll be ordering some soon!

After this amazingly long day, I was greeting home by my Harney and Sons box. Hooray for tea.
Well, this was among the samples, and I’ve brewed it up, to ease the headache, and also to sip it down.
Light, vaugly citrusy, and gentel. Ah, tea.

Sipdown!! (206)

Like so many others, this was a sample that Harney & Sons threw into my BF order. It is definitely a nice take on a mint herbal as it has a nice and smooth mint flavor but the end of the sip and aftertaste is distinctly lemon. I am not sure if I would order it myself but I would definitely not turn down the cup.

I bought a box of this tea in sachets after sampling it some time ago and it has become my most favorite after-dinner tea. So simple, yet so perfect.

Mint lover here, I hear ya!

I bet this would be good as an iced tea too,. mmm. I love verbena.

This came as a free sample with my latest Harney and Sons order. I like verbena very much on its own but I don’t really care for this combination as much as the mint/spearmint/etc blends I’ve been drinking lately. I poured it over ice and it isn’t bad that way. I don’t think I need this, however.

John Harney Appreciation Tea #19

This is not my favorite mint blend, but I was feeling a bit queasy earlier this evening, and I have to say that it made me feel better all around. I definitely recommend it as a “functional benefits” tisane.

Pleasant, but not anything I’d go out of my way to purchase (this was a free sample that came with one of my orders). Better than your average tea bag, but the herbs don’t have that super fresh vibrant character I’ve come to love in my recent loose tisane purchases. I taste a dried mint flavor but nothing resembling verbena – and I love verbena!

I received a sample of this with my one and only Harney order a few months back. It had been sitting in my drawer at work waiting for me to pay attention and today I decided to. I love mint, I love lemon, but I am very concerned about the two of them together. The dry smell is all mint, and honestly, the bag looks like it just has mint in it. What form is the lemon supposed to be taking? Am I confused?

The liquor is once again all mint in smell – Smells very much like any other mint teabag. When I’m desperate for a quick mint, I tend to turn to my $2 box of 24 from Superstore since I find that most mint teas are created equal, at least when it comes to bagged. The liquor is a swampy looking greenish brown. It is in a blue cup, to be fair, but it’s ugly looking. : )

First sips are…unimpressive. I get an initially mild mint taste, more like flavoured water than tea. I find the strength grows as it sits on my tongue, but that’s not a quality of the tea. As I go on, I get more of a lemonish hit at first, which turns to mint but it always has a watered down feel. A thinness of flavour, if that makes sense. For what this costs on the Harney website, I’m quite disappointed. This seems like something I could find in a grocery store under a no-name brand for much less. And maybe with stronger flavour. It’s not bad, per se, but there’s nothing impressive about it. Not an exciting cuppa for the Royal Wedding day. Though i did have some delicious Detox for breakfast…

What lemon flavour I do get is a bit bitter, as well. Not sour, but more like the taste of a lemon rind (if you’ve had the misfortune to taste one). This is not my friend.

Verbena is the flavor that is with the mint, not lemon. I always felt that lemon Verbena had a sorta of bubble gum flavor

I don’t normally like mint tea but the verbena keeps it more herbal and adds an interesting dimension. Usually I drink hot tea to be relaxed but this one is downright refreshing! I bet it would be good iced too.

Just found out that about Harney sachets – “Each sachet brews a 12oz cup of tea”
There’s nothing on the wrapper to indicate this – NO brewing info at all! No suggested temperature or steeping time or amount of water. Presumably you get that info if you buy the whole box, but these were singles/samples from a tea shop.

It’s mint and lemon verbena mixed together, a nice herbal blend hot or cold. What more is there to say?
