I get what OMGsrsly was saying yesterday about this tea being thin. I don’t know if it was my steeping parameters or simply the tea but this is definitely a thin cup.

However, what I am tasting is a whole lot of lemongrass. And some fruitiness – papaya maybe? Honestly, I have no idea what I am drinking. It is not bad though. Not too sweet and no hibiscus (which is rare for a herbal). Definitely interesting. Thank you Cavocorax for sharing this with me!

OMGsrsly

So weird that I got strawberries and vanilla. So weird.

VariaTEA

Haha I have no clue what is in this. It is a mystery tea.

OMGsrsly

White flowers and lemongrass and… stuff. :D

TeaLady441

It doesn’t really scream Christmas though. Maybe it’s a tropical escape from Christmas tea.

OMGsrsly

I was looking at Tea Desire’s Christmas herbals, and they all had cinnamon. Maybe this was supposed to have a spice in it, but we’re all missing it?

VariaTEA

Haha. Oh Herbal Infusions, your sneaky hiding of ingredients has left us perplexed.

OMGsrsly

It’s interesting to try teas when you have no idea what they are, but the only reason I have this is because MissB smelled strawberries. That is not good. :/

This is a little odd. Smells like strawberries and pineapple, tastes like vanilla-strawberry-rhubarb jam. It’s pretty thin, but I only used 2 tsp in 16 oz, so I probably underleafed it.

The flavour is nice, and if I knew the ingredients (and it was available) I’d probably buy some.

I just got some from Cavo. You make it sound super tasty :)

OMGsrsly

There is potential. Idk if it’s amazing, but there’s definitely potential!

OMGsrsly

Hmm. It does get weirdly bitter as it cools. Not a tea-bitter, more of a plant-bitter. That probably doesn’t make sense, but I think it’s the white flowers, whatever they are.

So I guess I skipped this one on Christmas, but – well, the name doesn’t really call to me.

I guess it’s Christmassy because it has orange in it? That’s definitely orange. And there’s lemongrass. And maybe some spices? This isn’t too bad but now it’s cooling and getting a little bitter.

Oh and the baby is asleep and it’s only 9:40. I’m going to go to bed at/before 11:00 if I can and here’s hoping she’ll stay out the rest of the night!

Sil

yeah! early bed! go you!

OMGsrsly

I just got this one from MissB. Smells lovely, but I’m going to wait till the weekend. :) I think I’ll just cold steep.

TeaLady441

I’ll try! But I’ve got buttloads of daycare paperwork to fill out. I guess. Sleep = soooooon.

Also it’ll be a lot better once I can drive J’s car because my commute would go from 80 to 40 minutes. I just need more practice with the shift stick.

OMGsrsly

You found a daycare? That’s awesome!

TeaLady441

Oh yeah! We did! She’s going to the University student one and we get a discount bc J is a TA. It looks pretty good they feed the kids and take them for walks to the arts building so they can watch people dance etc.

OMGsrsly

Nice! You’re so lucky she got in. The daycare at my uni is so hard to get into. My coworker had another baby and they’ve left the older one in daycare so they have at least one guaranteed spot!

TeaLady441

Yeah we wanted in that one too but after being on the list for 8 months the best we could get was 2 days, and one of those days we didn’t even need!

We found a really good place that’s just south of Lougheed if your coworker needs an alternative. It’s a bit out of the way if she commutes, but the people who run it were really great.

sipdown! (190) Another one from Dexter who very nicely surprised me with samples of all 12 of the herbal infusions teas as i missed being able to grab them thanks to a very long day of work.

I couldn’t tell you what’s in this blend. I drank it unthinkingly while browsing adagio fan blends (curse you cavo!). What that does tell me is that i enjoyed it quite a bit! it wasn’t overly sweet, wasn’t a hibiscusy blend..though the smell started to get to me after a while. I’d actually like to try this one cold brewed sometime. thanks dexter!

I know! I started browsing the fan blends, and have a list. :D

Sil

yeah except i don’t like adagios bases most of the time…so those would be really expensive tins hahaha

MissB

Heh. Talk to Dexter about some of the blends, and I have a good handful too if you’d like some samples…

Dexter

(That box is in the city – should get it tomorrow – I don’t think I’ve ever tried any of the fan blends, so ordered some. Always willing to share with tea friends )

Sil

haha will let you know :)

TeaLady441

I just saw this now. Hahaha. I love that you guys are thinking fandom tea thoughts. I want them all. And then I want a blending tea kit so I can make my own and trick everyone into buying it and raving about it so I can earn points for more free tea.

Except I’ll never get my own Adagio account bc of insane shipping stupidity. I should email them again and see what they say about with another method.

Sil

i am so insanely jealous of dexters fandom sampler tins right now…

This blend looks like it has a little bit of everything: pieces of fruit, flowers, lemongrass, petals, various herbs. Once water has been added, it smells… ew… not good. I smell lemongrass, lawn, dirt, leaves and flower petals. I’m really not sure if I want to take a sip now since it reminds me of playing outside and returning home with smelly, grubby hands.

Sipping… this isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I mostly taste citrus, lemongrass and something earthy. I wasn’t expecting the citrus as I didn’t smell any originally, but I’m pleased that it’s one of the main flavors. I’m not completely fond of the herbal flavor that lingers in the background and I especially don’t like the smelly finish that reminds me of those pungent leaves and grasses of my childhood.

I might choke down the rest of the cup since I want something hot, but otherwise, it’s really not for me.

I know, I know – I’m drinking a Christmas tea in August….
Don’t have much to say other than it’s better cold steeped than hot….
