From Kusmi Tea

BERGAMOT, BERRY AND CARAMEL FLAVORED BLACK TEA

A bergamot black tea with red fruits and caramel paying tribute to the treasures of Saint Petersburg.

As you may have noticed, at Kusmi we love telling you the stories behind our teas. Our St.Petersburg blend was created in 2003 as part of the 300th anniversary of the eponymous city and birthplace of Kusmi Tea. Enjoying this tea, with its hint of indulgence, is just like exploring the magical streets of Saint Petersburg!

The experience begins in the ultimate comfort of a black tea and bergamot base. A whirlwind of bridges, canals, and rivers rushes us irrepressibly forward while our St.Petersburg blend brews in its mug, with the roaring waters of the Neva River running down into the Baltic Sea.

No one can resist the gentle vanilla notes and voluptuous hints of red fruits and caramel, whose golden-brown tones hark back to St. Isaac’s Cathedral. The full extravagance and majesty of this enchanting city is reflected in this revisited Earl Grey!

So, say da to this organic St.Petersburg blend, which is sure to delight even the most imperial palate!

Organic tea available loose because it’s good for the planet, and in tea bags for when you’re on the go.

Ingredients: Black tea* (95%), natural berry flavor (3%), bergamot essential oil, natural vanilla flavor, natural caramel flavor *Organically grown ingredient

In typical Kusmi fashion, a very flavourful tea. An easy brew, tasty and rich. I’d recommend it for sure.

Great tea! I got a sample when I bought my new glass pot in Berlin, and I have to say that this was amazing. The caramel kicked in at the end, which is reasonable. You can feel the fruits all the way though!

from yesterday afternoon :
This time I rate it a bit higher, because I enjoyed it as if it were a pure Marco Polo (caramel black tea). The citrus fruits once more get lost during the brewing process, which is a shame, according to me.

HHTTB #1/18

Thank you TeaSipper for organizing this box and adding in a small sample of this tea. I have been eyeing the Kusmi Russian sampler for a while now so when I saw this in the box I had to give it a go. It was a nice cup, but nothing that rocked my socks off and screamed buy me. It had hints of berry and citrus with a sweet note in the back of the sip. I would be willing to give this one another try on a different day. I would see it being my mood, but this my quash my interest in buying the sampler pack for now.

Cameron B.

I actually recently bought that sampler and I would love to send you some samples if you’d like. :)

Well, this sample wasn’t exactly in the best packaging, so maybe you’d like it better fresher?

Ok, I have never said this about any tea before, but I will just be very blunt and say that the steeped result and the taste of this tea made me instantly nauseous. I usually don’t mind bergamot and I don’t know if it’s the combination with the berries that make it so terrible but this is the worst tea I have had yet.

Nicole

That’s pretty bad. :( I remember thinking it was odd and I haven’t reached for it much…

Virginia

Yes, well I think the reason why I don’t like it is that the texture of the tea is syrupy and the bergamot and berry flavours together create a blend of ultra sweet and acidic, so it reminds me of cough syrup. It does not taste like cough syrup at all, but it reminds me of it a lot, and just the thought of cough syrup is enough to make me physically gag, so again…Probably just me making it sound way worst than it is :P

mj

It must be bad if it’s worse than the lavender!

Sad sad sipdown… :( Drinking the last cup of this make me want to regret sending out samples of it to several people. But then I remember how much tea I have… And then I get excited because I now have an empty tin to use! Hooray!

I still really like this one, even though I’ve tasted a lot of different things since I last had it. I do find myself needing to add sugar because of the bergamot, but that’s more of a personal preference and I don’t blame the tea. I wonder if the Kusmi store does refills on mini-tins… :D

I think it’s time to come down to NYC and have fun in Kusmi, H&S and David’s
I’m not sure about mini tin. Last time I refilled she just pour it in a kusmi logo bag

Nicole

I seem to recall asking about the mini tins and she told me only the large ones. But I could be misremembering.

Cameron B.

Nicole, I wouldn’t be surprised. It seems a lot of places are against their customers being able to buy small amounts of tea… Greedy jerks. :P

Nicole

Yeah, usually 1 ounce is perfect. 2 is okay but 3 and over is a lot for those of us who keep lots of varieties on hand… :)

St. Petersburg and Paris have a lot in common—the teas, not the cities! I was expecting more of a caramel presence in Kusmi St. Petersburg, given the strongly caramel-redolent dried leaves, but the brewed tea ended up tasting very close to my memory of Harney & Sons Paris. The liquor was lighter than that of Anastasia, more of an orange than a reddish amber. I’m going to have to compare this blend side-by-side with both Paris and Tower of London, which also bears similarities.

I took a sip of the unadulterated tea and was not that enamored of the flavor. With light cream, however, this tastes very good. Either because I spilled a bit too much cream in, or else because the teas used are light, my final glass ended up looking like a latte. I know that I used enough dried leaves, as I added an extra half teaspoon more than I used in my Anastasia preparation.

This tea is a staple of my daily life. I have many teas that I consider better, but for an easy to drink, caffeinated punch in the mornings – this is what I turn to. The tea is fruity, smells great, and is easy to drink.

Here’s one Nicole sent a while back! thank you so much! I think I’ve tried a couple teas from Kusmi to know I’m not really a fan of their black tea base flavor. Just not to my tastes! This one should be my favorite though, since it has a subtle bergamot and subtle raspberry. I could have used more flavor though… it would have distracted from the base. But I like the flavor that is there. Everything is so mild in this cup, even at just boiled and steeped for four minutes. I can’t love every tea I guess! But this is the best of the few Kusmi I’ve tried.

Tastes like a warm candied (caramel) apple, minus the sugar. I quite enjoy it, though it doesn’t feel like I’m drinking tea.
