From Kusmi Tea

Four red fruits strikes the perfect balance between the natural bitterness of black tea and the slightly tart flavours of raspberries, strawberries, redcurrants and cherries. It’s ideal for afternoon teatime and is excellent with pastries.

One of my favorite “fruit tea” flavors is currant. Seeing the red currant in this really drew me in so I gave it a try. The best part about this tea is the flavors of the “4 fruits” are an excellent compliment to one another but to me the currant essence stands out above the rest. Also like most Kusmi teas the “flavoring” or “essence” (in this case) is toned down and pairs up with the signature “smoothness” of the Kusmi black Chinese tea quite nicely. The end result is nice toned-down “fruit tea” that does not fall into the “tastes like kool-aid” trap that bogs down many other fruit-flavored teas. Highly recommended!

Thank you for this delicious sample, Cameron B. ^^

While finishing up the Watership down Netflix series, I was sipping on this and it’s pretty yummy. Mild though. I was expecting the in your face flavor like Vicky’s Sponge Cake (which was raspberry all the way) that I tried the other day.

It was a nice blend of the red fruits, and you can’t really go wrong with cherry, strawberry, raspberry except if you make it artificially sweet (and this one doesn’t) so there’s no cough syrup taste at all. It is very mild though.

I was a bit afraid of this one, because of the cherry. Now, I don’t know. I can’t seem to find the cherry? Or really identify anything else. It’s definitely flavored, and it’s a fruity flavor, but beyond that, I have no idea.
Not sure if the flavor was lost much faster than it should have been(the box says 12/2019) or what else.

I won’t get through large quantities quickly even for teas I really enjoy so I took a bit of risk in buying 125g of this having not tried it before (or even smelled it for that matter). I have enjoyed Kusmi’s fruit flavouring in the past, so I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt.

No regrets here. This is delicious and fully makes up for the fact that I decided not to get any strawberry green. I do find it a tad bit watery, but I can probably fix that as I play around with my ample supply. A delicious current flavour while drinking with a delightful strawberry/raspberry aftertaste that is just the right amount of tart. Can’t say I really get cherry (though I can kind of see it now that I know it’s supposed to be there), but cherry is my least favourite out the the four fruits anyway.

Lovely taste of cherry and strawberry! Perfectly balanced between fruit aromas and black tea. I had many bad experiences with fruits in tea with Davidstea but Four red fruits breaks the wheel!

Sipdown! (8 | 81)

It’s nice to finish this one off, this was a box of sachets that I must have bought on clearance or something? Otherwise, why sachets?

Anyway, it’s a tasty tea! The flavoring is a bit more subtle than I would like, but it has a nice cranberry-like tartness to it that I really enjoy. The base is very smooth and lightly earthy with some woody notes to it.

I really like having a red fruits black tea around, so I’ll have to figure out which one to reorder. Maybe I’ll try a new one from Dammann!

Hmm, this reminds me, where is my Kusmi order? It has been almost a month since I placed it. Note to self, go check it.

Yet another sample from Cameron. I liked this one, and I was excited to try it since I didn’t order this one. It was a medium bodied black with a nice fruity flavor. I saw in other posts that people were able to pick out each of the four fruits. I couldn’t do that but I could definitely identify “fruity” in it. A really nice one.

The weather is lovely, and so anything fruity can be appreciated. Time to sip a bit of “Quatre fruits rouges”… the steeped tea smells nicely of red fruits, in a shy sort of way which already lets you know that this aromatised black tea is a job well done. It might well be that the fragrances are softer now as I got the tin 2 years ago, but I like it this way. The discrete presence of the fruit in the taste is also to my liking. I didn´t realise at first, but I left a bit in the mug, which I drank later (cold) and it had turned a bit bitter, not overly though. Overall a positive experience… and I should finish this and other Kusmi tins I bought about the same time.

I know what you mean. If someone were to hand me a tropical fruit in the middle of winter, I would just toss it in a snowbank. ;)

I stopped drinking Kusmi. I discovered other teas with the help of Steepsterites. But today made a pot. Surprisingly it was good. I’ve noticed all 4 fruits, wasn’t that lucky in my previous attempts. I should finish a tin, probably 2-3 pots left.

My main complaint about Kusmi is the huge tins. Even the couple of them that I still like, I don’t want that much of around at once. Too many other teas to drink!

boychik

Agree. But if you buy samplers like 5 tins they are too expensive just to taste. And I really dislike their bags. Tea just taste different in those muslin bags. Good thing for me I can always come with tin to the store for refill. I’ve done it since all my friends love Anastasia and Caramel.

Nicole

Didn’t know they would refill the tins! I just finally threw away my Assam tin. Wonder if my Anastasia will be ready for a refill when I go to the store in June… Since Mom likes it, too, I don’t feel as obligated to drink it all the time. :)

boychik

Oh yes, they do. You should bring it. I also was wondering if I could bring one tin and refill it with other tea. I have Polish EG empty tin but want to try Smoky EG. I want to try this and I will let you know if that will work. Also they sell refills online not for every tea but some.

Nicole

The Polish sounds interesting. Have never tried it.

boychik

Not bad at all. Very citrusy, lemon, lime. I finished the tin long ago rather quickly. But I was also mixing it with bouquet de fleurs( which I didn’t like some ashtray notes). I still have B de F:(

boychik

I want to try Traktir, Petrushka and Smoky EG, but don’t want to get the whole tin. They don’t do sampling in the store:(. Also I always ask them for samples in store and they give because if you order online they always put 3. You should ask.

boychik

Don’t forget in H&S to say that you are frequent shopper. They give 5% off on anything in a store.

Nicole

Oh, sweet. Thanks for the tips!

boychik

Anytime;)

Smells nice! But there’s not much in the flavor department.

I hope this isn’t going to be the trend with Kusmi teas. I’m glad I bought the smaller sampler sizes and I hope I’m going to find at least a few that are winners for me!

I like their Russian teas. the rest is just trendy teas

SarsyPie

I have some samplers, so I’ll keep trying, but I haven’t been too impressed so far. :(

hapatite

That’s the way I feel about teavana teas in general too (smells great, tastes bland). Hopefully you find a few you like!

SarsyPie

I hope so. It was suggested that I come back to these after more tea experience. I admit that I’m just not that into the subtlety of some teas yet!
