Thank you to Kawaii433 for sending a bag of satchets of this blend to me! I was very excited to finally try a Kusmi blend. I don’t think this one is for me, though I’m very grateful to have tried it. I’m not getting any pineapple. Only a strong mint and maté flavor, which is a bit assaulting.

Kawaii433

lol I felt the same way. I was hoping that you’d like it because you like mint. I’ve learned that I can’t handle any mint in tea /cry.

Whoa, there’s 9g of tea in this sachet. I didn’t even think of cutting it open to brew a smaller amount. Instead, I made 3-12oz mugs, taking note of how I felt after the first cup since yerba maté often doesn’t agree with my disposition — I think Mastress Alita termed that effect as ‘Wanting to Punch a Baby.’

I was cooking like a madwoman (roasted acorn squash, black bean and chipotle enchiladas with sautéed onions, bell peppers and summer squash on the side) with a dog who has clearly never worked in a kitchen in her life and 2 very sick people in the house who were arguing with each other. Despite this whirlwind, I didn’t lose my cool and drank all three mugs of this Blue Detox.

The dry bag smelled pungent and musty with some faint whiffs of pineapple. Brewed up it was nice and light non-cooling mint and pineapple tastes. Some grassiness and earthiness from the yerba maté and green rooibos? I have never had it. There was more going on underneath it all. Surprisingly tasty! And no punching of babies but now that I’m sitting down, I am feeling a bit irritated.

Thanks for sharing, Kawaii433 :)

One of the Twitch streamers I follow has a set of emotes that are a boxing glove and a crying baby, cleverly named “Punchy” and “DaBaby”. Shame I can’t use the Punchy DaBaby emote combo here on Steepster.

I thought I might as well try their last “Detox” blend. Some reason I thought this was going to be blueberry. I guess because of the name lol. I should’ve read the ingredients: Green Tea, Mate, Mint, Natural Pineapple Flavor, Rooibos, Stinging Nettle Leaves, Sunflower Petals #DOH

It’s minty alright, but the pineapple was the best part about it, but it was mild. I agree with Cameron that there needs to be a lot less mint and more pineapple. :)

A lot of things in life would be better with MOAR PINEAPPLE.

Kawaii433

lol :D Too right.

@Alita – Yeah, like where tf did that Pineapple Oolong run off to at Lupicia?

Work – 2:00 PM

This is the last of Kusmi’s three Detox blends (having already tried their Detox and BB Detox). This one is a green/maté/rooibos blend with pineapple flavor.

Hmm, well it definitely tastes spa-ish, which is what I think of when I see a blend meant for “detox”. The base tea is a muddled but interesting combination of grassy, earthy, a bit woody. It tastes like an herbal blend, really. There’s definitely peppermint, and it has that musty herbal peppermint taste. The pineapple is pretty mild here, and it almost tastes like there’s coconut as well (even though there isn’t). It’s definitely not zingy pineapple.

Overall, it’s inoffensive. Interesting that it tastes so much like an herbal blend. I could do with a bit less peppermint and a bit more pineapple.

Out of the three blends, I would definitely recommend the BB Detox version.

Sipdown (206)!

Another free sachet that Kusmi added to my last order. I was pretty excited about this one because I do really adore pineapple stuff in general. It tasted very pineapple-y too, so that was a big win for me. Kind of cross between candied pineapple and bubblegum? I couldn’t taste the base tea(s) that clearly – with how many there are it was pretty muddled. Smooth overall though, with just enough fruity sweetness!

I like this one too :)

This strange blend has been my go to cup for the last week or two. The house is undergoing some major renos, and I’m pretty sure this, along with a few other teas, are what has kept me sane.

It’s somewhat dry, medicinal, and grassy, which I find pleasantly unpleasant. It also tastes of sunscreen beach days and toasty pineapples, which is simply pleasant.

The word “detox” generally has me roll my eyes, and I’m not sure the flavour profile would please the majority of people, but Blue Detox still made my repurchase list!

It’s unusual to see a healthy/detox blend that doesn’t lead with lemony, minty stuff. Sounds kind of tasty…

Crowkettle

Agreed, although, this doesn’t deviate from that formula very much— there is a bit of mint but pineapple is a nice change from lemon!
