From Lazy Cat Tea

Tea – Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2017
Origin – Unknown

Rou Gui is very versatile and it will change a lot based on origin and production. It is considered the best cultivar to express the Yan Yun, or “melody of the rocks”, which is the special flavor coming from the rocky terroir where the tea grows in Wuyishan.

We don’t know exactly where this tea is from, however it has both clear yanyun flavor and an incredibly smooth mouth feeling over its rougui notes. A smooth and complex example of how great tea doesn’t require any additional stories about famous locations or processing to be enjoyed, just to be tasted. A high level yancha for an affordable price.

Tea: LazyCat House Rou Gui 2017
Drinking in 2018.

This is also not a formal review. I just want to post my thoughts so I can remember them. This is a beautiful rou gui, with a good tea quality and a good roast to bring the tea out into the open. The tea is a playful and enjoyable rou gui with spicy flavors and active mouthfeel. The roast smoothes things out well. It is rich and dry, never quite “sweet.” It is quite a pleasure to drink.
