Brewing method: 2-3g leaves in 6 oz. teapot or teacup with a lid, brew with newly boiled (hottest possible) water, and keep the lid on. Wait for 5 minutes for the first infusion, and a few minutes for each of the following infusions. The tea can yield 5 infusion or more when above brewing method is used.

Although in America, many people suggest very low temperature be used for white tea, it is the traditional method using hottest possible water and long infusions for Bai Hao Silver Needle. A tea being delicate does not always mean it will be harmed by hot water. Brewing temperature is a personal choice and there is no fixed rule. But we suggest you to give the traditional method a try.

Backlog:

I love Life in Teacup. I can’t recall a time when I’ve been disappointed in a tea that I’ve had from them. I’m not saying it hasn’t happened, just saying that I can’t recall it … so either it hasn’t happened or it wasn’t a very memorable, “stand out” disappointment. Life In Teacup is always quality.

This is a lovely silver needle. The leaves are so fluffy and soft. The flavor is sweet, delicate and delightful. I taste sweet floral notes and hints of hay.

Thanks to J.C. for this one, I hope I have added my tasting note under the correct tea…

I don’t always know what to do with white teas to make them shine, I feel like they sometimes end up tasting liked boiled straw. For this tea I ended up steeping it in a gaiwan for about 45 – 60 seconds with a water temp. less than boiling. This has produced a very gentle, sweet tea which has a light creamy quality. I am liking this one very much. Something about it is very relaxing. Maybe it’s time to check out some offerings from Life in Teacup? Thanks for sending this J.C.!

Glad you liked it. I know what you mean about boiled straw lol. I feel like White Peony can have that trait. Life in teacup has great greens and Oolongs :)

Good analogy. I need tea that wears sturdy walking shoes, not satin slippers :)

I was checking out the Life in Teacup site but I want to wait until more of the 2014 teas are in!
