Again, probably something that I am just not oolong familiar enough to comment on the tea. It smells great though I didn’t smell much bergamot. It seems to be a fairly light oolong with a light peach. Nice enough for a cup. Thanks to mtchyg

The bergamont in this really came alive for me in the wet leaf. Much more so than when the leaf is dry.

My first LP tea! I just got done with an online test for school, and midway through the test, the mailman delivered a box full of lots of LP teas and a bamboo container. I think it shipped in 2-3 days—Nice! Since the test was not timed, I decided to open a few of the teas and get a good “sniff.” Good idea! The bamboo container is very cool and well made. I put the Oolberry tea in there—It holds a little over an ounce of tea.

I’m drinking the first steep currently as I type. I’m interested to see if I can make a better cup of this because I made a dang good cup right now. The flavoring is very natural tasting. It’s well balanced. Neither flavor is overpowering whatsoever. I was scared that the bergamot would be too strong, but it wasn’t. The peach hits the tongue right away and the Bergamot finishes. It’s got a citrussy tang, and I like that. There’s no bitterness.

Okay, steep #2 findings: This ones a little sweeter and less tangy. It lost a little flavor, but not much. This is a pretty smooth tea, and the liqueur is a nice peachy amber.

Steep 3#: I probably steeped this one for 5-6 minutes, and it was actually STRONGER than steep #2. I’m wondering how many steeps I can get out of this. I’ll try for at least one more.

In conclusion, this is a very good tea. Well done, Andrew! I can tell a lot of time is put in to everything, so cheers!

On to Silver Jasmine.

Of the LP teas I’ve tried so far, this one was my favorite!

JakeB

It’s definitely a good one! I picked a good one to start with. I got 4 really good steeps out of it. The 5th steep was still good, but dying a little.

Holiday TTB

This is an absolutely inspired flavor combination! The sweetness of the peach flavoring balances the sharpness of the bergamot perfectly and the Formosa base adds an interesting complexity that makes it a bit more special than a typical earl grey. I’m hanging onto this one!

You thief! I’m glad you like it. I’m not a fan of black tea very often and my best friend loves earl grey so I took what I liked and added that element to it.

Inkling

Well, it definitely works! I didn’t keep much from this particular TTB, but this tea was a winner for me. :)

I just received my large order of tea from Liquid Proust Teas. This tea was the first one I tried because I asked my wife which one she wanted to sample first and this was the one.

The name of this is so appropriate. At first I thought this was just a kind of quirky name for the sake of having fun. But after smelling and tasting this tea, I get EXACTLY how he came up with the name. The dry leaf scent of bergamot come through with a peachy note intertwined. It is enough to catch your attention. But the magic really happens when the leaves are steeped.

The liquid has such a sugary sweet peach note that my wife and I couldn’t stop smelling the cup. It is seriously bordering on magical how a tea is able to elicit such a sugary sweet note on the nose. The wet leaf definitely lets the bergamot shine. The taste on the tongue alternates between the peach and the earl grey type of flavor. Like I said, with the whole scent and tasting experience, the naming of this tea becomes obvious. I think the choice of the formosa is really an understated key as to why/how this tea becomes more that just an average tea. I think it lends itself well to create the sugary sweet peach here.

Really fantastic introduction to Liquid Proust Teas.

This is a really good tea. As inferred by the little description, the taste begins with peach and ends with bergamot making it have a citrus finish. I partially get the Formosa, but it blends in more with the peach bringing in a woodsy taste from the peach’s seed. It’s also pretty consistent in the first two steeps and wanes in the third. Very juicy. Probably good with cream and sugar, or easily can turn into an iced tea (but I prefer it pure and it’s sweet enough on its own).

A lot of people would think it’s an Earl Grey, and Earl Grey lovers would like it. My mom likes citrusy and fruity teas along with Earl Grey; she just can’t drink black ones often because of her kidneys. I gave her a sip, and she loved it: “This is my favorite out of all the one’s you’ve given me.” And to me, Elixer #9 is the Spring, and this one is the Summer Peach.

A sample from Roswell Strange. I’ve read a lot about Liquid Proust’s teas on here, and I’ve been intrigued by them for a while, so it’s great to have the opportunity to try one! I’m not a particular fan of Earl Grey purely because bergamot scares me a bit – but I do like peach. I used 1 tsp of leaf for my cup, and gave it 3 minutes in boiling water. The resulting liquor is a medium golden-brown, the scent strongly peachy.

I have to say that I’m really impressed with this one. The initial sip is almost entirely peach, and it’s a fresh, natural, realistic-tasting peach. I’d be hard pressed to tell this from peach juice initially, truth be told. The bergamot emerges in the mid-sip, and fortunately it’s at a really pleasant level. Not too weak, not too strong. A kind of goldilocks bergamot for me! I like the pairing of peach and bergamot much more than I thought I would – the bitter orange vibe contrasts really well with the sweet peach, and takes this tea to a whole new level. It’s neither bitter nor sweet, orangey nor peachy, but somehow wonderfully suspended between the two.

The other surprise here is the formosa oolong base. I’ve never tried an Earl Grey with an oolong base before, so this is a new experience for me. My first impression is favourable, though; the fruitiness of the oolong works well with the peach, and provides an extra depth of flavour without being overpowering. I think on balance I actually like the pairing of bergamot and oolong more than I do bergamot and black tea, which is a bit of a revelation.

In my opinion, this one is really well done. It’s an inspired pairing, and so unique – I’ve never come across anything like it before, and I doubt I will again. Pure tea alchemy! On the strength of this one, I’m definitely up for trying more Liquid Proust blends – thanks again to Roswell Strange for introducing me!

Merry Christmas… Again!

I’m currently celebrating Christmas number two of three right now. The first was the Christmas with my Dad and the third will be the one in January with my Aunt and Grandma. This one’s with my mom, and it began at the ungodly hour of six AM with my little sister jumping on my bed to wake me up.

So far, the day has consisted of banana waffles, a few Fuzzy Navels (if I’m getting up at 6AM I’m damn well pouring myself a drink; I don’t care what time it is), and openings presents! Adding to my haul from my Dad’s and what I opened last night, I got three different table top games that I had asked for: Tsuro, Dixit, and Once Upon A Time as well as an expansion pack for Once Upon a Time. We’ve already played all three and the group favourite appears to be Tsuro.

I haven’t had much tea yet today; but I made sure to start my day off right with a hot cuppa of this one before mixing my first Fuzzy Navel. In fact, I’m gonna ‘credit’ this tea with inspiring the fuzzy navels: the yummy peach notes really put me in the mood for some Schnapps. Also, beginning your day with Earl Grey (even an unconventional one such as this one) just feels right. EG is definitely a morning tea.

rosebudmelissa

Tsuro is fun, my brother-in-law has it. And I agree about earl grey. I prefer it in the morning as well.

Fjellrev

Hoy crap, that is an awesome name for a tea.

Three xmas celebrations, eh? Party on then!

I know someone’s going to read this as peach earl grey and not realize that it’s a formosa oolong base tea and not a black tea…

Anyways, this is one battle that required a referee!

52Teas

Ah … a peach Earl Grey … must try it as soon as I find the right bergamot.

Liquid Proust

Indeed :) Peach is one of the three fruits that should go well with bergamot

Roswell Strange

Out of curiosity, what are the other two IYO?

Liquid Proust

Can your curiosity wait until I make them?
I assure you I have them figured out, at least two others that is.
If not I will let you know.

Roswell Strange

Nah, I’m cool waiting :P
