With or without milk, perfect with a continental breakfast.

Continuing my tour of European black teas and this morning I chose MF’s French Breakfast. Another tea about which I’ve been quite curious but unfortunately I think I may have over-steeped or over-leafed (3.5 g in 9.5 oz for 3m 45s) and there is a little too much astringency for me detect the richness of flavors described by others. Grateful to have the chance to enjoy this gift sample and I’ll try to improve upon the cup a few days from now.

Sipdown…
A delicious breakfast tea with some wonderful chocolate-y notes. I’ve been finishing some things off lately, which is good. However this is gone but not forgotten. It is definitely going in my re-purchase list as it’s one of my favorite breakfast teas. Very malty and chocolate-y, and perfect with a bit of soymilk.

this one and american breakfast are my favs i think. I picked up paris breakfast this last trip to see what it’s all about

Dustin

I have never thought of it having chocolate notes before! I’ll have to pay more attention next time I have a cup.

Birthday gift from my sister in law who actually read my Christmas wish-list this year and looked up who Mariage Freres was. Delicious vanilla and bitter (in a good way) almond flavor. Silky followed by a kick of tannin. Crazy enough, I think I will use less tea on the next steep to pull out the lighter flavors and maybe not end up with such a dry tongue. :)

I need to logon to steepster from a proper computer and not an iPad to up this tea’s rating. It has become my favourite morning tea with milk brew. There’s something about it that just comes to life with the creaminess of milk.
Yesterday at around 17:00 there was another rocket siren. I was still at work, so we made our way downstairs. A lot of parents with kids were stuck outside the building, so on our way to the underground parking lot we let them in.
Hoping for peace and quiet. Drinking tea in the meanwhile.

I am tired for you. Will be praying for you today.

NofarS

I am tired too. Praying as well.
There was a terrorist attack in Jerusalem just now. Things don’t seem to be looking up.

I wish I good just transport you here for at least a little while, so you could experience a period of peace and relative safety. Thankfully, I have never had to experience what you are going through, but I have had friends who have survived through civil war and assassination attempts even as children. I feel for all of you. Keep safe. Sending you warm thoughts and wishes for your continued safety and security.

mrmopar

Glad to know you are safe.

NofarS

Thank you all for your kindness. I can’t tell you how much I rely on Steepster and Steepterites to keep my sanity lately. Bless you all.

I’m upping the rating on this one because it really is pretty much my favourite ‘simple’ black tea that I drink with no milk or sugar. I still can’t decide if there is added flavour in this tea or just incredibly aromatic black tea. I definitely can’t see any non-tea bits in it, so if there’s anything it’s one of those ‘added flavour’ things. Whatever it is, though, it’s a wonderfully smooth, not heavy yet very strong on character, black tea.

Oh, this tea is super lovely. I took a sip this morning and had forgotten what it was going to be, since I barely remember driving here to work today. But I’ve had goat cheese & marmalade toast and now French breakfast tea, so I should be having a better morning than I’m having. I love malty, caramel, strong black tea, but this one is really refined and not fake tasting at all. Beautiful. Thank you to Shmiracles for letting me sample her box o’ samples! And thank you, Steepsterites, for sharing your teas. If I can make it to lunch, I’ll get to read more of the pointless coffee shop AU I started this week.

A good, solid black tea blend. Unlike English or Irish breakfast blends, though, this seemed a bit two-dimensional to me. I did not detect the flavors of chocolate and malt.
