From Matcha Outlet

This beautifully green stone ground Matcha comes from the much respected tea growing region of Uji, Japan. The aroma is very vegetal and grassy, it is the very epitome of late spring green and nature. After the initial vegetal aroma, you are greeted with a nice, faint, honey sweetness at the finish. Once the Matcha has been whisked into a beautifully foamy cup, the aroma takes on more sweetness with notes of sweet cream and yeasty bread. There is still the aroma of fresh vegetation, but it is well balanced with sweetness.

Sipping this Matcha is quite an enjoyable experience. It is mild, a touch vegetal and grassy, a hint of nuttiness, and lastly a sweet honey and yeasty bread finish. This is a Matcha that is delicate and does not overpower, it has no bitterness and is delightfully green.

Enjoying this Matcha as a Latte instead of the traditional whisked version gives you an equally delicious treat. The sweet taste of honey and yeasty bread is augmented by the milk and sweetener, its grassy and hay counterparts add depth, and the nutty finish leaves a delightful aftertaste.

This matcha does not foam well. I tried twice to be sure it wasn’t a user error, used much less water to powder ratio the second time and got the same result. The foam simply dissolves very quickly after whisking it. The color is a sort of sludgy algae green.

The taste isn’t bad. It’s a subtle grassy kind of taste with little notes of weeds, hay, and earth. It’s not bitter at all, which is nice.

This seems like kitchen-grade matcha to me, so I do not recommend it for anyone looking to drink it by whisking in a chawan. Maybe those looking for something to mix into lattes or desserts would like this one. It has a rather straightforward grassy taste with little hints of sweetness that linger on the tongue.
