I hate hibiscus. I’m ready to fully admit that the stuff needs to go.
I bought this yesterday when I was out with my mom. There’s an amazing little shop only about 20mins from place that has a TON of teas. I had never heard of this one before, so I thought, hey, why not give it a try?
I love the smell of it. COCONUT!!! LOVED the smell. That’s what hooked me!
Taste… :( The poor coconut, apple, pineapple goodness was lost behind the hibiscus. I don’t know if I made it too strong or if I let it steep too long, but the hibiscus was too much. I know this is going to sound weird, but I’m wondering if it’s hard or easy to take all the hibiscus out of it? I’m going to try it again… :(

It doesn’t always work, but sometimes I’ve cold steeped hibiscus-heavy teas and it wasn’t quite as pronounced. Still there, but it wasn’t so tart it makes your eyes water.

That’s one steeping method I haven’t tried yet, but I’ve been meaning to. I think I’ll have to give that a try with this one.

Cold brewed this one and it is a weird combination of pineapple/coconut and hibiscus. It is like two different teas in the same bottle but they don’t really blend properly. Very, very strange. Although, with that said, I don’t mind this as much as I thought I might given I am neither a lover of Pina Colada or hibby. Nonetheless, I am grateful for the chance to have tried this so thank you Roswell Strange for sending it my way.

In other news, the flavors in this are reminding me of the tasty, tasty Hawaiian Blizzard I had earlier. MMmmmm…blizzards :)

Sipdown (176/180)!

Cold brewed the last of this one for a relatively short period of time (nine hours) and with a smaller leaf amount because it was all I had left and it turned out pleasantly decent. Basically more coconut/pineapple with a less harsh hibiscus undertone/edge. Still wont be a restock though. Not even close.

Also, the pizza people definitely judge us. I mean, I guess I technically have no proof or anything – but it’s just a feeling! Today I ordered pizza when I got home from work (mmm!) and then found out that Tre had also ordered pizza today not even two hours ago! That’s a lot of pizza for one household…
