Description

A traditional blend of roasted rice grains with fine Japan green tea. Toasty and malty with a smooth, rounded body and satisfying aroma.

One of Japan’s most unique teas, Genmai Cha means “roasted rice tea.” This blend originated with Japanese peasants who would stretch their precious supply of tea by blending it with roasted rice, in an era when tea was still a barely affordable luxury. Over time, the toasty, malty yet smooth and refreshing flavor of Genmai Cha developed a following on its own merits, and today it is quite popular internationally. Ours is a superior grade of this classic tea, primarily because of the top quality Sencha leaf that forms the base of the blend. In addition, the hulled, boiled, and roasted rice grains are skillfully processed and strictly graded. The result is a very drinkable beverage with a rounded body and satisfying aroma.
