Steepster TTB 2025

The TTB is out the door and on its way to Canada, but I kept a small sample of this tea and am having it with breakfast today. Not in bed, alas — it’s the first day of my FINAL SEMESTER OF GRAD SCHOOL. I am experiencing a bit of ye olde senioritis, which will not affect the quality of my scholarship but will probably increase my grumpiness with respect to things like “doing readings” and “writing papers.”

Aaanyway. The hazelnut flavoring here is so pronounced and tasty, and it’s complemented well by the blackberry. The black base is very brisk and astringent, which honestly is exactly what I want in a breakfast blend.

I will say that the more I drink, the more I wish the hazelnut was just a smidge lighter and the blackberry a smidge stronger. The hazelnut lingers after the end of a sip in quite a powerful way!

Still, this is pretty dang tasty.

The sampler in my subscription packet this month (Plum Deluxe being the final remaining tea subscription I just can’t bring myself to end, despite my stash).

A pleasant enough black tea, with some of the bitterness I expect of a breakfast tea and a clear scent of hazelnut. The hazelnut flavoring is more forward when the cup is hot. As I’m down to the last colder sips, I get almost none of it, with a light berry flavor underneath the tea itself showing up instead.

Nice to drink, but not something I’d need to have.

Day 6 of the Plum Deluxe Hanukkah sampler. Starting to suspect there aren’t any caffeine-free blends in the sampler this year, which would be unfortunate. Maybe there were two versions available and I didn’t realize?
On the up side, this blend uses Plum Deluxe’s excellent hazelnut flavoring. The blackberry and hazelnut flavors are both very clear and work well together. It takes oat milk well, though that does drown out the blackberry a bit. While I’m perfectly happy to have a hazelnut latte, the blackberry flavor here is good enough that it’s worth uplifting rather than washing out. A significant improvement over yesterday’s blend!

The tea itself sounds as tasty as its name!
