From Red Leaf Tea

Of all the teas, White Tea as the most delicate flavor. Lightly dried and uncured, white tea leaves accept sweetening well. We carefully suffused a light champagne into the herbs and created a new tea blend that truly melds the freshness of safflowers, red raspberry and white wine champagne, while retaining its delicate original taste. Best enjoyed as an afternoon tea, our Champagne White Raspberry Tea is a gourmet’s delight.

This is an interesting tea… concept, I guess? Herbs soaked in champagne, how classy! Ooh la la!

Another great sample from Indigobloom, thank you!

The website for this tea said to steep it for 4-8 minutes… which seemed scarily long for a white tea, so we played it a little sheepish and did 2.

However, we ended up with a fairly delicate brew. There is a soft, peppery note from the white tea (tastes like a bai mu dan?), and a light raspberry flavor following. There’s also a hint of what may be the champagne towards the end… though it’s been years since I’ve had a champagne.

So, it tastes pretty good, though significantly more delicate than I think I would typically enjoy. Maybe it actually needs to stew for 4-8 minutes… that still sounds pretty scary though!

Since we didn’t follow the instructions, I’m leaving off a numerical score… but I’d probably put it right around 70.

I’ve never had Champgane before so it is hard for me to fully evaluate the wine aspect of this tea. Overall it has a very light and delicate flavor where even the raspberry blends in well so it comes off more as light flavor notes and not overwhelmingly fruity.

I am not particularly wowed by this tea. There was a lot more raspberry than I had anticipated. There is a distinct presence of flavorings added to this tea that may have turned me off to it. I know, I know, it is supposed to be and “infused” tea, but it becomes almost artificial in it’s quality. The one time that I over brewed the tea, I got a Grape Fanta flavor. After that I am careful to watch the steeping time, cause I don’t want to taste that again. Alone it is good without sweetener, for it is naturally sweet. When I am in the mood for a fruity light tea, this is what I go for. An interesting concept, but I don’t think I would buy it again. Red Leaf Teas are better for flavored matcha anyway.

I got this tea in a swap from Ost. She sent me a huge amount of it, I guess she didn’t like it much. Well, more for me! I’m not really a wine person, but I do like some sparkling wines (the sweet ones). The tea itself is mostly leaves with some silvery buds mixed in along with some thin red flower petals. It smells like candy! Very sweet and slightly tart raspberry with a definite effervescent quality. There’s white grape juice in there as well. I followed the instructions on Red Leaf’s website and did a 4 minute steep at (about) 180 degrees.

The brewed aroma is very similar to the dry but a bit milder. Woo, this tea! The first thing I notice about it is the effervescent champagne quality it has. Very bubbly! The raspberry flavor is still very candy-like in my opinion, but that’s okay. I’m definitely getting that white grape juice flavor that I smelled before. I added sugar to mine, as the tea wasn’t as sweet as I expected plain.

I can see this being fantastic and refreshing iced! Must try that later! :D Thanks Ost!

I saw this and had to try it. It just sounded too yummy, not to mention unique. It is absolutely delicious. The flavor is very light, and the raspberry is very subtle and not overpowering at all. The tea is slightly sweet and no additional sweetener is needed. I really like this tea.
